Accountabilities:

    The Sr. Principal Analyst will serve as a subject matter expert in Microsoft licensing, software contracts, and technology procurement, providing strategic guidance to organizations while contributing to industry-leading research and advisory services.

    • Advise clients and prospects on Microsoft pricing models, licensing strategies, contract negotiations, renewal approaches, and vendor management practices through virtual and in-person engagements.
    • Develop and publish high-impact research, insights, webinars, presentations, and client-facing materials focused on software pricing, cloud licensing, and negotiation strategies.
    • Research, analyze, and forecast trends across SaaS, cloud services, and enterprise software markets to provide forward-looking recommendations.
    • Conduct detailed analysis of client challenges, identify root causes, and develop practical strategies that improve sourcing and procurement outcomes.
    • Represent research methodologies and industry expertise in client discussions, conferences, media interactions, and professional events.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to support business growth, client engagement, and sales initiatives through market expertise and strategic insights.
    • Participate in research discussions, peer reviews, and innovation initiatives while mentoring colleagues and contributing to team success.
    • Identify opportunities to improve processes, research approaches, and service delivery methods.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate is an experienced technology procurement and vendor management professional with strong expertise in Microsoft commercial agreements, software licensing, and strategic negotiations. They should combine analytical capabilities with strong communication and executive presence.

      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required; graduate degree preferred.
      • 8+ years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in SaaS/software contract negotiations, technology procurement, category management, vendor management, or software asset management.
      • Recent hands-on experience negotiating Microsoft agreements, pricing structures, and commercial programs.
      • Deep knowledge of Microsoft licensing models, reseller ecosystems, software compliance considerations, and cloud services market trends.
      • Experience evaluating software licensing risks, managing vendor relationships, and supporting audit or compliance initiatives is preferred.
      • Familiarity with other major technology vendors such as AWS, Google, Salesforce, SAP, Oracle, or ServiceNow is a plus.
      • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to build credibility quickly with senior stakeholders.
      • Excellent presentation, writing, research, and analytical skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
      • Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, apply frameworks, and develop defensible recommendations.
      • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under deadlines.
      • Self-motivated, collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working within a global, multicultural, matrixed environment.
      • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally, typically up to 25%.
