As a Special Credits Officer within the Special Credits Group (SCG), you will manage a portfolio of stressed and distressed borrowers, with a focus on risk management and maximizing recovery of the firm’s credit exposure through early intervention and financial restructuring.

Commercial Banking SCG is a well-established team supporting Commercial & Specialized Industries. You will partner with colleagues across functions and lines of business, as well as external stakeholders, to develop and execute restructuring and recovery strategies while preserving key client relationships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with company management, syndicate lenders, financial advisors, and external counsel to develop and execute solutions that optimize repayment and recovery while preserving important client relationships.
  • Support internal transaction teams on amendments, waivers, and restructurings involving complex legal, financial, reputational, and cross-jurisdictional considerations; coordinate with Payments and Operations partners to mitigate settlement and payment risk.
  • Contribute to credit decisioning in active stressed/distressed situations, including advisory and managed engagements.
  • Prepare quarterly credit surveillance updates, and support accounting and regulatory reporting for portfolio exposures.
  • Develop exposure management strategies, evaluate loan sale opportunities, prepare valuations for securities and other instruments received through restructurings, and recommend trading/disposition strategies.

 

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • 8+ years experience in Corporate Credit Risk Management and/or Leveraged Finance.
  • Restructuring experience or leveraged finance structuring experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a demanding environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Experience with bankruptcy processes.
  • Strong network across major restructuring financial advisory and legal firms.
