Accountabilities:

    The Senior Counsel, Commercial Legal will be responsible for managing strategic commercial agreements, supporting revenue-generating initiatives, and providing practical legal guidance across the organization. This role requires strong negotiation expertise, business partnership, and the ability to navigate evolving technology and regulatory landscapes.

    • Lead, negotiate, and close complex commercial agreements, including SaaS, AI, security, privacy, support, and professional services contracts while aligning terms with business objectives and acceptable risk parameters.
    • Partner with sales, product, engineering, revenue, support, and professional services teams to support customer engagements and enable successful business outcomes.
    • Develop creative solutions to overcome contractual challenges while maintaining strong customer relationships and meeting business timelines.
    • Provide legal guidance on emerging AI-related topics, including acceptable use policies, data training restrictions, intellectual property ownership, AI-generated content liability, and responsible AI practices.
    • Stay informed on legal and regulatory developments affecting technology customers, including privacy, cybersecurity, and industry-specific requirements across sectors such as healthcare, financial services, and public organizations.
    • Support a high-volume sales environment by prioritizing requests, managing competing deadlines, and delivering timely legal support.
    • Build strong relationships across internal teams, particularly with sales stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the contract lifecycle.
    • Deliver training and guidance to business teams to improve contract processes, negotiation efficiency, and customer experience.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate is an experienced commercial technology attorney with strong contract negotiation skills, excellent business judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

      • 5+ years of commercial contract experience gained in-house at a technology company or within a law firm focused on technology transactions.
      • Experience negotiating cloud-based service agreements with enterprise or highly regulated customers preferred.
      • Strong understanding of data privacy and security concepts, including regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
      • Familiarity with AI and machine learning contractual considerations, including data provenance, AI output ownership, indemnification, and responsible AI usage terms.
      • Active license to practice law, J.D. degree, or equivalent experience handling complex technology transactions.
      • Ability to operate effectively under pressure while supporting deadline-driven business teams.
      • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
      • Self-motivated, proactive mindset with strong ownership, attention to detail, and customer-focused decision-making.
      • Collaborative personality with professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to build positive relationships across teams.
      • Experience with channel partnerships, marketplace sales, or two-tier commercial models is a plus.

        • Competitive base salary range:
          • US locations including San Francisco Bay Area, Washington DC Metro, New York City, and Seattle: $177,800 - $266,600 USD.
          • Other U.S. locations and remote positions: $160,000 - $240,000 USD.
