Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d)

BerlinPermanentPosted Jul 3, 2026

In this role, you’ll support our team in developing and extending our data processing pipeline, which processes over five billion products per day. In doing so, you will be supported by a scalable on-prem infrastructure and a team of highly talented developers. Most importantly, you’ll have room to bring your own individual solutions to the table and impact our product.

The team owns the end-to-end lifecycle of our connectors: configuration and Docker image builds, runtime orchestration on Kubernetes, the sidecar helper API that connectors talk to, and the long-running PHP processing engine that powers the heavy data work. You’ll move comfortably across both our modern Symfony/DDD services and our legacy processing pipeline.

Your Role & Goals:

In your first 3 months you will:
  • Build a deep understanding of our connector lifecycle across CDE (configuration and image build), CRE (runtime orchestration on Kubernetes), the container API (connector's sidecar), and the legacy processing engine that is responsible for the data processing tying all the other services together
  • Become productive in our Symfony 7.x / DDD codebase (bounded contexts, CQRS command/query buses, sagas and hexagonal layering)
  • Work as part of an agile team to ship features and improvements across both modern and legacy codebases, using your fresh perspective to help identify where things can be simplified.

In your first 6 months and beyond you will:
  • Take ownership of the complete delivery lifecycle for new features and improvements, from ideation to production deployment, collaborating with stakeholders throughout and ensuring your solutions are observable, maintainable, and reliable in production
  • Help guide incremental modernization by moving capabilities from the legacy stack into the well-bounded contexts of our newer services
  • Contribute to the overall architecture of our connector platform and help shape decisions that span the modern services and the legacy processing engine
  • Deepen your knowledge of the connector domain and mentor other engineers, both within the team and across teams that depend on us.

What you Bring to the Team:

  • A self-motivated, structured, proactive, and responsible approach
  • Strong English skills, both written and spoken, with clear and concise communication and a user-centric approach
  • Thorough knowledge of SOLID principles and Domain-Driven Design
  • Solid experience with a modern object-oriented language and a mature application framework. The principles matter more than the specific stack
  • Hands-on experience with messaging architectures (command/event buses, queues, async workers)
  • Experience with Linux and long-running CLI services / background processing
  • Comfort moving between modern and legacy codebases
  • Experience with Docker and containerized applications
  • Understanding of security best practices.

What tech will you be working with:
  • PHP 8.3 and Symfony 7.x (Messenger, Doctrine ORM)
  • DDD with bounded contexts, CQRS, Sagas, hexagonal architecture
  • Kafka, Redis, MySQL / MariaDB, SQLite, DuckDB
  • S3-compatible object storage (CEPH), Docker, Kubernetes
  • Prometheus, Graylog and Grafana for observability
  • Keycloak, Vault, OAuth2 for auth and secrets
  • PHPUnit, Behat, PHPStan, PHParkitect, PHP CS Fixer
  • OpenAPI / Swagger; Jenkins for CI/CD

What we Offer you:

  • The option to work remotely and flexibly, because we know outstanding talent knows best how and where to work - please note that this is a Berlin based role
  • Ongoing internal and external training, plus a yearly learning budget to help you continuously grow professionally and further your career with Productsup
  • Opportunities for engaging in our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, plus one paid Impact Day per year dedicated to voluntary work
  • Employee referral bonuses: we know that talent attracts talent, and we encourage you to refer people you know to join our team
  • The opportunity to take ownership and responsibility, impacting the company’s growth in an international environment with 40+ nationalities
  • Discounted Urban Sports membership
  • Employee Assistance Program.

This role's compensation aligns with Level 3 within the Technical scope.
