Identify and implement advanced, complex manufacturing processes and technologies. Apply expert knowledge and use of manufacturing principles and practices to lead and guide a wide range of strategic activities. Integrate the total impact of manufacturing technology as it applies to advanced or new manufacturing solutions for a safe environment while balancing cost, quality, and delivery. Manage the process to develop and drive standardization for manufacturing. Manage projects in a cross-functional environment and lead matrixed and dotted line teams. Utilize mechanical engineering tools to advise on and recommend long term resolutions to systemic manufacturing problems. Collaborate on complex manufacturing issues and provide resolutions across the Cummins network. Provide interfaces and leadership with indirect suppliers. Lead initiatives to improve the metrics for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and environment (SQDCE). Select and procure manufacturing equipment which meets the Cummins manufacturing specifications and meets the project or program needs. Lead the integration of the manufacturing process design and product and systems design interactions to ensure the product design can be manufactured in the most efficient manner. Demonstrate capability in organizing and improving the steps of how workflow should occur by using the Manufacturing Business Model Application and key practices used to drive improvements within the business to show a common framework for manufacturing functional excellence within the company.  Optimize manufacturing processes, integrating new technologies and ensuring quality and efficiency. Develop and implement quality control objectives, monitoring production quality and working to reduce defects to meet high quality standards.

Positions require a Master’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field and 4 years of experience as a Manufacturing or Quality Engineer, or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field and 6 years of experience as a Manufacturing or Quality Engineer, or related position. Experience to include: Manufacturing technology integration; Drive standardization for manufacturing; Resolutions to systemic manufacturing problems; Safety, quality, delivery, cost, and environment (SQDCE) metrics; Procure manufacturing equipment; Manufacturing product, process, and system integration; Manufacturing Business Model Application; Manufacturing functional excellence; Quality control objectives.
