Provides specialty medical services to patients within the scope of the supervising physician's medical specialty, and underthe direction of the department director or division administrator. Assists with specific medical specialty and clinicaloperations, and counsels' patients regarding their health. May perform minor procedures within the scope of thesupervising physician specialty practice licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida/Georgia.Clinical Area: TheAPP II position provides moderate to complex specialty care primarily in an outpatient setting. May perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with the particular specialty practice, which may occur in an outpatient setting, or procedural area during normal business hours.

 

Responsibilities

Job Requirement:

 

Obtains patient histories, performs physical examinations and/or diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, for which theyare qualified to perform by training, and which fall within the normal scope of the specialty practice of the supervisingphysician.

 May provide education and instruction. Provides complex medical decision making in the treatment of patients consistent with their specialty practice to include providing consult service as appropriate

Interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests, records the data in the patient's record/progress notes. Reviews, prescribesand/or recommends medications and treatments to patients

 

Assess patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with care plan and determines appropriatediagnostic and any therapeutic procedure required by their specialty.

 

Provides follow up for established patients where continuity of care is required along with timely and appropriate referrals to physician and pharmacist for patients in need of further medical care and services.

 

Instruct, educate and counsel patients/families regarding their  healthcare to include illness or injury, therapeutic anddiagnostic procedures and treatment regimens as well as routine health maintenance 

 

Enters pertinent clinical information in the patient's medical record in a timely and accurate manner and in accordancewith established compliance billing guidelines. Documents and closes open encounters, MyChart messages, and otherEMR communications in accordance with Institutional requirements. 

Participates in meetings, functions, events, and committees, as well as in a team of interdisciplinary health care providers.

 

Contributes to the development, implementation, and expansion of programs and initiatives, including participation in research activities, as applicable.

Experience Requirements:

 

Masters Nursing required or Masters Physician Assistant program required

 

 

Certification / Licensure:

 

Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner License required or at time of hirePhysician Assistant License required at time of hireBasic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hireAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferredPALS Certified preferred

 

Travel:

 

Up to 50%

Additional Details:

 

May be required to take call coverage.Provides services to all UF Health hospitals, clinics and affiliated facilities as required
