About the Team
Oracle Identity Cloud Service (IDCS) powers identity and access management for Oracle Cloud customers worldwide. The Identity Data Tier Engineering team owns the architecture, engineering, automation, and operational excellence of the storage layer that powers one of Oracle Cloud’s most critical Tier-0 services.
The platform powers one of Oracle Cloud's Tier-0 identity services, supporting hundreds of millions of identities globally with stringent requirements for availability, scalability, resilience, security, and operational excellence. The team is responsible for engineering the next generation of database platforms built on Oracle Exadata, Autonomous Database (ADB), and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure while driving large-scale modernization, automation, and cloud transformation initiatives.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead a highly skilled engineering organization responsible for the design, evolution, and reliability of the Identity Data Tier platform.
This role requires a technically strong engineering leader who can define long-term platform strategy, build and mentor high-performing teams, drive execution across multiple engineering organizations, and lead some of Oracle Cloud’s most critical infrastructure modernization programs.
You will work closely with OCI platform teams, Autonomous Database engineering, Exadata engineering, architecture groups, security teams, and Identity engineering organizations to deliver highly scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud database services.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership
• Lead and grow a high-performing organization of software and database engineers responsible for Identity Data Tier engineering.
• Build an inclusive, collaborative engineering culture focused on continuous learning and operational excellence.
• Recruit, develop, and retain world-class engineering talent.
• Act as the senior engineering escalation point for complex technical and operational issues impacting the Identity platform.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, inclusion, and engineering excellence.
Technical Strategy & Architecture
• Define the long-term technical vision and roadmap for Identity Data Tier platforms.
• Drive platform modernization initiatives including Exadata lifecycle management, Autonomous Database adoption, cloud-native database services, and next-generation storage architecture.
• Lead architecture reviews and make strategic technology investment decisions balancing scalability, reliability, operational simplicity, and cost efficiency.
•  Influence technical direction across multiple engineering organizations through strong architectural leadership.

Platform Engineering & Modernization
•    Lead large-scale engineering initiatives including:
    o Exadata Platform Modernization, drive adoption of new OCI Data Tier technology platforms.
    o Drive platform Stability, Performance and Scalability initiatives at IAM.
    o Zero-downtime database migration programs
    o Database lifecycle management and upgrades
    o Disaster Recovery and High Availability improvements
    o Database automation and self-service platforms
   o Platform observability and operational tooling
• Drive automation-first engineering by eliminating manual operational processes through software engineering and infrastructure automation.
• Champion engineering best practices across CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, cloud-native development, and operational excellence.

Engineering Execution
• Drive execution of large-scale cross-functional engineering programs involving multiple OCI organizations.
• Lead engineering initiatives that improve platform scalability, operational efficiency, reliability, and customer experience.
• Champion automation-first engineering by eliminating manual operational workflows through software engineering, infrastructure automation, and self-service platforms.
• Drive continuous improvements across engineering processes, platform architecture, observability, deployment automation, and operational practices.
• Solve ambiguous engineering and organizational challenges requiring sound technical judgment, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional collaboration.

Operational Excellence
• Own engineering readiness for Tier-0 production services with strict availability and resiliency requirements.
• Lead engineering response for major production incidents, reliability improvements, root cause analysis, and operational reviews.
• Drive improvements in service reliability, performance, scalability, security posture, and operational efficiency.
• Establish operational standards, engineering playbooks, and automation that improve production health while minimizing customer impact.

Cross-functional Leadership & Influence
• Build strong partnerships with OCI Infrastructure, Autonomous Database, Exadata Engineering, Identity Platform, Security, Product Management, Operations, and Architecture organizations.
• Influence engineering direction across multiple organizations through technical leadership, engineering standards, and architectural guidance.
• Represent the Identity Data Tier organization in architecture reviews, executive discussions, operational reviews, and strategic planning forums.
• Drive alignment across organizations to successfully execute complex engineering initiatives spanning multiple teams.

People Leadership & Talent Development
• Build, mentor, coach, and inspire high-performing engineering teams through effective hiring, onboarding, career development, succession planning, and performance management.
• Develop future engineering leaders through continuous coaching, delegation, and technical mentorship.
• Foster an inclusive engineering culture where every engineer has opportunities to grow, innovate, and contribute.
• Drive talent retention, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
• Conduct performance reviews, talent assessments, promotion recommendations, and recognition programs that support long-term organizational success.
