As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team you apply deep knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Continue to evolve your technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of your aligned domain of expertise.
Job responsibilities
- Potential to participate in Team Talent evaluation and assist management in performing performance appraisals
- Plan, track, and manage the proper use of technology infrastructure to optimize delivery and cost
- Create original documentation and update existing documentation
- Act independently and leverage critical thinking
- Serve as point of escalation for 40x, 50x, and 60x level team members
- Advocate for the customer base when faced with infrastructure or business-critical issues
- Articulate and share clear, concise, complex technical findings to management in understandable terms
- Collaborate with high-performing teams and team members throughout the firm to accomplish common goals
- Perform day-to-day incident and problem management of major, globally impacting data issues, proactive infrastructure management, and serve as a Subject Matter Expert in 2–3 technologies by attending bridge calls, addressing tickets, and working with the GNS Tier 4/PE organizations on bug fixes, design changes, and code upgrades
- Uses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate infrastructure analysis and design documentation, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
- Applies reuse-first, AI-assisted practices within delivery and automation routines to identify recurring issues and validate remediation options, ensuring changes are traceable/auditable and aligned to resiliency and security expectations.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Network operations / infrastructure support experience, including the ability to lead P1 incident bridges in a 24x7 high-pressure environment.
- Deep knowledge of network infrastructure components, including asset tracking/management across enterprise systems.
- Proficiency in multiple infrastructure technology domains, with strong understanding of the risk and controls landscape to ensure firm standards are met.
- Experience in banking, exchange, or technology environments within a global organization.
- Experience with enterprise network topologies: routing/switching, data center, wireless, security/services, load balancing, proxy, and optical.
- Expertise in multicast, low-latency networks, and market data technologies.
- Strong experience with protocol analyzers and capacity/monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, Splunk, SevOne, ThousandEyes).
- Scripting/automation skills (Python/Ansible), version control best practices, Linux experience, and strong written/verbal communication.
- Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to support infrastructure engineering workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
Ability to review and validate AI-assisted recommendations before implementation, escalating when uncertain and ensuring outcomes align to resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
