Responsible for obtaining insurance pre-authorizations, surgery consents and providing patient education regarding the surgery. Prepares the surgery schedule for the physician and forwards to the designated surgery center. What you will doCommunicates and documents essential information to physicians and team members. Prepares referral follow up letters and dictations for referring physicians for the physicians review and signature. Completes all routine duties/tasks in a timely manner. Ability to meet scheduled deadlines on assigned projects. (Pre-Op Forms, H&P from PCPs) Maintains a safe and clean work area. Obtains insurance pre-authorizations for surgical procedures. Reviews surgical prices for self-pay patients and for patients having procedures not covered by insurance. Serves as a Liaison between patients and financing institutions for self pay patients. Prepares charts for surgery to include surgery work up forms and consents prior to surgery date. Reviews all patient education after the physician has gone over risks and benefits with the patient. Has patient sign all pre-operative consent forms.
