Position Summary
The Elevator Usher position is responsible for delivering superior guest service when transporting visitors to their correct seating levels during all PPG Paints Arena events. This role pays an hourly rate of $16.26 (per CBA).Benefits as per the union agreement. This position will remain open until October 16, 2026.
About the Venue
As a leading entertainment venue, PPG Paints Arena is the regional epicenter for athletic events, concerts, and family shows in Western Pennsylvania and home to the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.
Responsibilities
Maintain neatness and sanitation in assigned areas at all times.Clean and sanitize assigned work areas that include buttons, doors, and walls using mechanical and/or manual equipment following proper building and governmental protocols. Contact management for any maintenance issues.Push buttons to open and close the doors at each floor where guests want to enter/exit the elevator. Ensure that all passengers follow proper protocols to enter and exit the elevator safely and that guests adhere to proper behavior while riding the elevator. Notify the Event Supervisor and/or Security by pager if issues arise. Ensure that proper passenger load guidelines are followed. Be alert to any malfunction and ring the pager and security alarm in case of any issue. Provide directional assistance to various locations throughout the facility.Assist other employees while loading items into the elevator. May need to transfer other goods from floor to floor. Enforce rules and regulations of the building (i.e., no smoking) Provide calmness, courtesy, respect, and professionalism to all guests and fellow employees. May need to prevent unauthorized users from getting inside by instructing them to wait for an additional time period.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 1+ years of customer service experience preferredAbility to work with minimal supervisionMust be able to do basic mathematicsStrong customer service skillsSound judgement and quick decision-making capabilityGood verbal and interpersonal skills requiredPossess enough technical aptitude to understand and operate the elevatorCarry a pleasant impression of the Company through courteous and sincere conductProfessional presentation, appearance and work ethicAbility to work irregular hours, including night shifts, weekends and holidaysAbility to interact with all levels of staff, including management Will be required to join the union, upon invitation, following a 90-day probationary period.
