Accountabilities:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a remote software engineering team by fostering accountability, collaboration, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
    • Own engineering delivery outcomes, ensuring teams consistently meet commitments while maintaining software quality, reliability, and scalability.
    • Drive Agile development practices, including sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, reviews, backlog refinement, and predictable delivery processes.
    • Partner with Product and cross-functional teams to define requirements, establish acceptance criteria, prioritize initiatives, and align engineering efforts with organizational goals.
    • Monitor engineering performance metrics, identify delivery risks, remove blockers, and proactively manage dependencies to maintain execution efficiency.
    • Participate in technical discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews while promoting engineering best practices, security standards, and compliance requirements.
    • Collaborate with data, clinical, and operational teams to support integrations, workflows, data pipelines, and technology improvements.
    • Manage relationships with external vendors and outsourced engineering partners, ensuring clear expectations, accountability, and successful delivery.
    • Support technical decision-making by balancing feature development, system improvements, technical debt reduction, and long-term platform health.
    • Build a strong engineering culture focused on innovation, ownership, inclusivity, and high-performing distributed teamwork.
    • Requirements:

      • 4+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, preferably within Agile and remote environments.
      • 5–10 years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong knowledge of software development practices, architecture, and delivery processes.
      • Experience with full-stack web development technologies such as Ruby on Rails, React, APIs, cloud platforms (Azure or AWS), and relational databases.
      • Proven ability to deliver complex software products while maintaining strong standards for code quality, security, scalability, and system reliability.
      • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to executives, healthcare stakeholders, product teams, and external partners.
      • Experience managing distributed teams, including nearshore, offshore, or vendor-supported engineering resources.
      • Leadership approach centered on coaching, servant leadership, trust-building, and empowering engineers to succeed.
      • Experience working in healthcare, health-tech, or other regulated industries such as finance or insurance is preferred.
      • Familiarity with healthcare technology environments, including EMR/EHR integrations, clinical workflows, or healthcare data standards, is a plus.
      • Exposure to data engineering concepts, ETL pipelines, data platforms, or infrastructure technologies is beneficial.
      • Ability to work within the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) with reliable internet connectivity for remote collaboration.
      • Willingness to complete applicable background checks, screenings, or credential verification requirements as needed.
