Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the daily operations of  Tool Room and Tool Crib.
  • Ensure the timely availability of tools, fixtures, and equipment required to support production schedules.
  • Manage inventories of cutting tools, inserts, tool holders, gauges, fixtures, and consumable materials.
  • Establish and maintain minimum and maximum inventory levels.
  • Coordinate the procurement of tooling, equipment, and related services.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and technical support agreements with suppliers.
  • Supervise tool assembly, presetting, and preparation for CNC machining centers.
  • Monitor and control cutting tool life through tooling management systems and performance analysis.
  • Implement tooling optimization programs to reduce costs and improve productivity.
  • Develop and maintain tooling databases, cutting parameters, and tooling specifications.
  • Coordinate the repair, maintenance, and calibration of tooling and measurement equipment.
  • Ensure proper identification, storage, traceability, and handling of all tooling assets.
  • Provide technical support to Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Maintenance departments regarding tooling applications and performance.
  • Participate in new product introductions and manufacturing process development activities.
  • Lead tooling cost reduction and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Implement continuous improvement methodologies to optimize setup times and tool change processes.
  • Monitor and analyze departmental performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental procedures and standards.
  • Manage, coach, and develop personnel within the Tool Room and Tool Crib organization.
  • Promote workplace organization and housekeeping through 5S principles.

  • CNC Machining Centers
  • CNC Lathes
  • Metal Cutting Tooling Applications
  • Selection of Inserts, Tool Holders, and Workholding Systems
  • Tool Presetting Systems
  • Tool Management Systems
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • 5S and Kaizen Methodologies
  • Inventory Management
  • ERP/MRP Systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, etc.)
  • Metrology and Calibration
  • Precision Machining Processes

 

Language

  • Advance conversational English.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a Tool Room/ToolCrib department or function.
