Joining Amex Tech means discovering and shaping your contribution to something big. Here, you can work alongside talented tech teams and build a unique career with the Powerful Backing of American Express. With a range of opportunities to work with the latest technologies, and a commitment to back the broader engineering community through open source, our mission is to power your success. Because Amex Tech is powered by our technology, our culture, and our colleagues.
The Technology organization enables and accelerates the company’s growth strategies, delivering global capabilities and services in support of Amex’s customers and colleagues, while maintaining 24/7 servicing and availability to ensure an uninterrupted, high-quality customer experience. Technology provides the foundation for everything we do in the company while driving differentiation through building and leveraging innovative technology and data insights.
The Enterprise Data and AI organization unites the data governance, strategy, engineering, and product teams with those responsible for AI engineering, generative AI enablement, and automation product and engineering. This group plays a pivotal role in leveraging data as a core driver of innovation and integrating AI capabilities to transform products, operations, and customer experiences.
The EDAI organization also incorporates technology Research & Development and experimentation with emerging capabilities, along with engineering support for Amex Digital Labs. This integration ensures that research breakthroughs seamlessly translate into business impact.
The GenAI Enablement Team partners with stakeholders to support GenAI use cases from inception to implementation — guiding teams through council reviews, model integration, testing, and evaluation — to ensure alignment with enterprise GenAI strategy, governance, and the safe, compliant adoption of AI capabilities across the organization.
As a Digital Product Manager on the GenAI Enablement team, you will help make Amex systems, tools, knowledge, and data sources safely usable by approved AI platforms and agents. This role sits at the center of Amex’s agentic AI strategy: helping approved AI tools move from isolated assistants to enterprise-aware agents that can improve how colleagues research, analyze, decide, and execute work.
This work is critical to making enterprise AI useful: without governed access to the right context, AI tools remain limited; without clear controls, integrations create risk. You will define the product strategy, requirements, approval patterns, and launch paths for making enterprise context available to approved AI platforms and agents.
As AI platforms become more agentic, Amex needs faster, more reusable ways to decide what context agents can access, what actions they can take, and what controls must be in place. You will work with Engineering, Architecture, Information Security, other control partners, platform teams, vendors, and business teams to decide which capabilities should be enabled, for which users, under which controls, and at what level of scale. Over time, this role may help turn reusable operating patterns into more centralized product capabilities for governing, monitoring, and scaling how AI platforms connect to enterprise context.
- Own the product strategy for making Amex systems, tools, knowledge, and data sources safely usable by approved AI platforms and agents.
- Prioritize integration capabilities based on colleague value, business impact, data sensitivity, technical feasibility, control maturity, and delivery timelines.
- Partner with Engineering and Architecture to define technical solutions, APIs, dependencies, implementation plans, and tradeoffs.
- Translate user insights, business goals, and technical capabilities into clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog priorities, launch decisions, and inputs for user education, training, and launch guidance.
- Define access boundaries for each capability, including eligible users, data scope, permitted actions, monitoring needs, audit requirements, support ownership, and rollback paths.
- Create reusable approval and enablement patterns that can scale across AI platforms, enterprise systems, and future integration models.
- Partner with Go-to-Market and control partners to redesign intake, approval, and enablement paths so governed AI integrations can move from request to launch faster and with clearer decision rights.
- Turn complex product, technical, and risk tradeoffs into clear decision materials for senior leaders, approval forums, and delivery teams.
- Use adoption, support, risk, and value signals to decide where AI context access should expand, stay limited, or stop.
- 5+ years of product management, platform product management, enterprise integrations, AI products, data platforms, SaaS products, or equivalent experience.
- Strong product judgment, including the ability to prioritize capabilities by customer impact, business value, technical feasibility, risk, and readiness to scale.
- Proven partnership with Engineering, Architecture, Information Security, other control partners, platform teams, vendors, and business teams.
- Comfort working with technical teams on APIs, system architecture, integrations, dependencies, implementation options, and tradeoffs.
- Direct experience with AI agents, enterprise integrations, products that help users safely work across multiple tools and data sources, or related AI integration patterns such as MCP.
- Track record of turning ambiguous AI integration opportunities into clear product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, approval paths, launch plans, and success measures.
- Product mindset that can start with reusable operating patterns and mature them into scalable platform capabilities.
- History of improving product, technology, or risk-review processes so teams can move faster while maintaining appropriate controls.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the judgment to align teams, clarify tradeoffs, drive decisions, and shape clear user guidance.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
