Accountabilities:

    The Water Programs Manager will oversee a portfolio of global WASH partnerships, ensuring programs meet quality standards, performance objectives, and long-term sustainability goals. This role requires balancing strategic thinking, operational execution, and trusted relationship management with implementing partners.

    • Manage the full grant lifecycle for a portfolio of international WASH partners, including proposal reviews, grant approvals, progress reporting, milestone tracking, and timeline management.
    • Monitor program performance against established frameworks by defining expectations, evaluating results, reviewing reports, and using field insights to guide decisions.
    • Strengthen partner programs through monitoring, evaluation, learning (MEL) insights, technical guidance, and the sharing of effective WASH practices.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with international partners based on trust, transparency, accountability, and shared goals.
    • Identify opportunities to improve program quality, operational efficiency, sustainability, and impact through internal and external collaboration.
    • Support the evaluation, onboarding, and management of new global WASH partnerships.
    • Coordinate with finance, monitoring, evaluation, learning, and other organizational teams to ensure effective program execution.
    • Manage or mentor program support team members, helping them grow their skills and successfully contribute to partnership operations.
    • Oversee external consultants and incorporate technical findings into partnership strategies and program improvements.
    • Support donor reporting, impact storytelling, and presentations by providing accurate program insights and results.
    • Contribute to AI-enabled improvements by testing and adopting tools that increase partnership efficiency while maintaining appropriate human oversight.
    • Travel internationally up to approximately 20% of the time to support partner relationships and program monitoring.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate is an experienced international programs professional with expertise in WASH initiatives, grant management, and partnership development. They should be comfortable managing complex projects, collaborating across cultures, and using data-driven approaches to improve outcomes.

      • 5+ years of experience managing WASH funding portfolios, international development programs, or similar global initiatives.
      • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as international development, public health, environmental studies, water science, or a comparable discipline.
      • Demonstrated experience managing partnerships or programs using performance frameworks, objectives, indicators, and measurable outcomes.
      • Experience engaging external technical experts and integrating specialized knowledge into program strategies.
      • Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to navigate complex conversations with diverse stakeholders.
      • Experience working across cultures and collaborating with international nonprofit or community-based organizations.
      • Ability to mentor, guide, and develop team members while fostering a collaborative environment.
      • Strong analytical skills, including experience with monitoring, evaluation, budget analysis, or program data systems.
      • Preferred qualifications include:

        • Master’s degree in a related field such as public health, environmental engineering, or water science.
        • Experience managing sustainable rural WASH grants or international development partnerships.
        • Experience building capacity with international NGO partners, particularly in West Africa.
        • French language proficiency.
        • Direct experience implementing WASH programs internationally.
