The Senior Manager, Software Engineering is responsible for leading engineering teams across a complex product and platform area, ensuring predictable, high-quality delivery at portfolio scale while building the talent pipelines, operating mechanisms, and architectural governance that enable long-term engineering excellence. This role acts as a force multiplier through Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and Staff Engineers, translating business strategy into engineering execution, shaping team topology, and driving cross-functional alignment across organizational boundaries
This position reports to the Director, Software Engineering and is and will be an on-site role.
While roles are posted openly to ensure transparency, some vacancies may be considered as suitable alternative roles for associates who are at risk of redundancy. Where this applies, those individuals will be given priority consideration in line with applicable legal and company requirements.
What You Will Do:
- Lead portfolio-level delivery across multiple teams, owning roadmap clarity, dependency mapping, risk management, and re-scoping decisions to ensure predictable execution against consequential business commitments.
- Build and develop engineering teams — coaching Engineers and Tech Leads, running structured career growth frameworks (calibrated leveling, promotion committees, succession planning), and maintaining a high-accountability, psychologically safe culture across teams.
- Co-own technical strategy and architecture governance with Staff Engineers defining multi-quarter platform direction, introducing review mechanisms (ADRs, design reviews, tech radar), and driving meaningful reduction of technical debt at scale.
- Partner with Product and Design leadership to co-own planning, shape roadmaps, manage trade-offs, and translate business priorities into engineering strategies communicated in customer and revenue terms.
- Drive operational excellence across the portfolio establishing and monitoring SLOs, incident response health, on-call load, MTTR trends, and postmortem quality to ensure systemic improvements rather than repeated failures.
- Design and evolve team topology — defining team structures, interfaces, and operating cadences (quarterly planning, tech councils, review forums) that scale quality and velocity without adding organizational friction.
- Champion AI and automation adoption across engineering teams identifying where AI agents, developer tooling, and process automation unlock leverage and reduce toil at the org level.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent experience in a senior engineering leadership role.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with C#, .Net, including at least 4 years managing engineering teams with demonstrated experience leading managers or senior ICs across multiple teams or platform areas.
- Proven track record of portfolio-level delivery ownership including roadmap management, dependency resolution, and cross-team risk mitigation in complex product environments.
- Technical credibility in software engineering. Sufficient depth to partner effectively with Engineers on architectural direction, platform decisions, and build vs. buy trade-offs.
- Demonstrated experience building engineering leaders. Coaching Tech Leads and Engineers, running leveling calibration processes, and developing succession pipelines.
- Experience driving cross-functional alignment with Product, Design, QA, and business stakeholders with a track record of earning stakeholder trust through consistent, transparent communication and reliable delivery.
- Familiarity with engineering excellence practices, Clean Code, DORA metrics, SLOs, incident management, developer experience, and continuous improvement mechanisms at scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- Remains an active hands-on technologist, comfortable writing code, leading proof-of-concept work, and getting into the technical weeds when it matters
- Relentless technical mentor known for leading the engineers beyond, setting a high bar for technical craft, and holding people accountable to continuous growth
- Experience designing team topology and organizational structure, including stream-aligned, platform, and enabling team models, in a scaled engineering organization.
- Track record of driving at least one org-wide engineering improvement such as a hiring loop overhaul, leveling calibration program, incident management system, or developer platform uplift.
- Exposure to AI and automation-heavy engineering environments with practical experience governing and scaling AI agent usage, data pipelines
