To date, we’ve raised over $300 million from world-renowned investors including Stripe, Tiger Global, Northzone, and Tencent. But this is just the beginning.

We’re looking for people who are excited about joining the Pay by Bank revolution and helping us change the way the world pays. Could this be you?

Description

TrueLayer is making a deliberate, CTO-led investment in agentic engineering. We are building a new team — Agentic Engineering Enablement — with a focused mission: pave the way for AI agents to succeed across TrueLayer's engineering organisation. Every bottleneck that slows an agent down is a problem to solve. Every piece of tribal knowledge locked in a Slack thread or an engineer's head is an opportunity to unlock.

As an Agentic Enablement Engineer, you will be an integral part of this new team. You will work hands-on to build and maintain the context, tooling, and infrastructure that make AI agents effective at TrueLayer, contributing meaningfully to a greenfield platform with real engineering impact from day one.

What does good look like in Year One?

Agents routinely land coordinated changes across multiple repos and services, run e2e tests, and deploy behind guardrails without a human in the loop.

What we expect from you as an Agentic Enablement Engineer:

Build and maintain agent context and tooling

  • Write, maintain, and version AGENTS.md files, system prompt libraries, and skill definitions for the codebases and workflows you own. Treat this as infrastructure, not documentation.
  • Work with engineers across teams to surface and convert tribal knowledge into structured, agent-consumable artefacts: runbooks, coding conventions, decision trees, and system maps.
  • Build and contribute to TrueLayer's internal tool library: structured, versioned, testable agent capabilities that encode how we build, test, and operate software.

Contribute to golden paths

  • Build and maintain reusable templates and orchestration patterns that give agent capabilities a reliable, consistent starting point.
  • Identify where existing patterns are fragile or unclear and propose concrete improvements.
  • Contribute to adoption tracking and feedback loops that help golden paths improve over time.

Improve CI/CD for agent workloads

  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, cloud runners) to reliably handle multi-agent workflows.
  • Identify and address CI latency through caching, parallelisation, and test impact analysis.
  • Build and maintain ephemeral, sandboxed development environments for agent use.
  • Automate recurring manual tasks: flaky test quarantine, dependency updates, and PR triage.

Support the eval and observability layer

  • Build and maintain evaluation suites for agent capabilities shipped internally.
  • Instrument agent health metrics and surface meaningful signals to the team.
  • Contribute to guardrail and oversight implementations, with support from more senior team members.

Share and grow

  • Share work, learnings, and setbacks openly. Document your work thoroughly so others can build on it.
  • Participate in team workshops and knowledge-sharing initiatives, contributing to a culture where every engineer can engage confidently with agentic tools.

About you:

  • You are actively using and building with AI agents — you have moved beyond occasional AI-assisted tools and are designing workflows where agents do real, autonomous work.
  • 4+ years of software engineering with exposure to platform engineering, infrastructure, or developer experience.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and a practical understanding of how to improve their performance and reliability.
  • Familiarity with building agent systems: prompt engineering, tool-use schemas, or evaluation approaches.
  • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure fundamentals: AWS or equivalent, Docker, and containerisation.
  • Good written communication skills, with the ability to document complex systems clearly for a technical audience.

We would be particularly excited if you have:

  • Hands-on experience with MCP servers or agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, or AutoGen.
  • Familiarity with eval or observability frameworks such as Braintrust or LangSmith.
  • A background in developer experience (DevEx) and an interest in measuring engineering velocity.
  • Understanding of LLM cost modelling: model selection, caching strategies, and token budget design.
  • Security or compliance experience in a regulated environment.
  • Open-source contributions, technical writing, or community involvement in the agentic or DevEx space.

Don't meet all the requirements?

Multiple studies have shown that women and people of underrepresented groups are sometimes less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single requirement. At TrueLayer, we are committed to building a diverse workforce, so if you are excited about this role and have the essential skills, but not the entire checklist - we'd still love to hear from you!
