As part of InnoTech, the AL Maritime activity connects a wide range of global markets to essential molecules across borders and oceans. Air Liquide Maritime is organized along four business units, namely Offshore Energies, Cryogenic Supply, Global Rare Gases and Global Helium, and is also supporting OCEOS, a joint venture to offer CO2 shipping and barging services for CCS projects across Europe. The organisation has grown significantly over the last few years and regroups 10 sites located in 9 countries with more than 200 employees.

Air Liquide Maritime Sdn Bhd specializes in cryogenic tank and equipment rental for the offshore and maritime industries as well as in cryogenic transport of molecules, and provides a full range of repair and testing services.

Air Liquide is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Global Engineering & Construction division. In this role, you will be the technical lead responsible for product studies and design, adherence to objectives, normative requirements, and design rules. You will intervene on complex projects and actively participate in the evolution of the department's technical standards.

The candidate should have good understanding of mechanical design, system integration, layouting & packaging with strong proficiency in Solidworks, Autocad, familiar with industry standards such as ASME, API and ANSI. The candidate is also responsible for developing project deliverables, design reviews and collaborating with other cross function teams to meet the project requirements including the deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities

Mechanical Packaging & Detailed 3D Modeling

  • Execute Complete Design Layouts: Translate system engineering concepts and P&IDs into comprehensive, clash-free 3D models for process packages.
  • Drafting & Documentation Generation: Produce fabrication drawings, generate system assembly drawings, routing layouts and comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) in compliance with industry drafting standards.
  • Standardization & Modularization Execution: Maintain a library of standardized layouts and modular components for control panel systems to drive engineering efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.

Technical / Engineering

  • Incorporate Vendor Data: Integrate technical information including vendor drawings and other project components directly into the master 3D model and assembly drawings. 
  • Drawing Review & Quality Control: Perform self-checks and peer reviews of 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings for accuracy, tolerance stack-ups, and completeness prior to formal release.

Cross-Functional Coordination 

  • Interface Collaboration: Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to manage design interfaces, resolve clashes, and ensure the physical layout reflects all functional system requirements.
  • 3D Model Reviews & Constructability: Prepare and lead the presentation of 3D models during project reviews (Internal and Client Model Reviews). 

Continuous Improvement & CAD Standards

  • Design Optimization: Incorporate feedback from project lessons learned into future projects.
  • CAD Library Management: Contribute to the maintaining master catalog and standardized drafting blocks to accelerate project execution.

Are you a MATCH?

Education & Experience

  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting Technology, or equivalent technical diploma; OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
  • 5+ years of experience in 3D modeling and detailing of layouts.

Technical Competencies

  • Advanced 3D CAD Proficiency: Expert-level capability in SolidWorks 3D (CAD). 

  • Bill of Materials (BOM) Management: Proven experience creating, structuring, and maintaining complex BOMs within ERP/PLM systems (e.g., SAP). 

  • Piping & Structural Design: Strong understanding of industrial piping routing rules, pipe support design, and structural steel fabrication techniques. 

  • P&ID Interpretation: Ability to flawlessly read and translate complex Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) into accurate physical 3D routing and layouts. 

  • Expertise in the Fluids / Mechanics domain.

Preferred

  • Experience with designing skid packages within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial gas sectors is preferred but not mandatory

  • Software: Google Suite (operating interface), AutoCAD (2D/3D)

  • Proficiency in French language would be an added advantage.
