Flight Analyst
Flight Analyst
DESCRIPTION
As a Flight Analyst I, you will perform a mix of trajectory analysis and performance assessments, supporting mission design, pre-flight prediction, range safety integration, and post-flight reconstruction. You will build and maintain simulation models, generate propulsion, aerodynamic, and atmospheric models, run Monte Carlo analyses, and translate results into actionable recommendations for GNC, Test Operations, and Vehicle Engineering. This role is intentionally broad: we seek a fundamentals-strong engineer eager to flex across disciplines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop nominal trajectories under aerodynamic, structural, and range constraints.
- Build and maintain aerodynamic, propulsion, and mass models (including coefficient tables, interpolations, and uncertainty models) of various degrees of fidelity.
- Build and maintain 3-DOF/6-DOF simulation tools and integrate aerodynamic, propulsion, and mass models into the tools.
- Run Monte Carlo campaigns evaluating sensitivity to atmospheric variation and aero/trajectory uncertainties.
- Generate range safety products, including hazard areas and contingency trajectories.
- Produce analysis memos, performance margins, and risk summaries for pre-flight reviews.
- Support post-flight reconstruction through telemetry data reduction and model validation.
- Collaborate with GNC, Avionics, Mechanical Design, and Test Operations to ensure modeling consistency.
- Maintain documentation, configuration management, and defense-industry data hygiene.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any engineering discipline from an accredited university AND 2 years of experience
- OR Master’s degree or PhD without experience
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:
- Internship or research experience in trajectory design, aerodynamics, GNC, or mission analysis.
- Experience with aerodynamic coefficient tables, atmospheric disturbance modeling, or uncertainty quantification.
- Experience integrating aerodynamic, propulsion, and mass models into 3-DOF/6-DOF simulations.
- Familiarity with STK, GMAT, or similar mission analysis tools.
- Exposure to telemetry analysis and post-flight reconstruction.
- Experience using Git or equivalent version control systems.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:
- M.S. in engineering AND 2+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience leading major compliance initiatives in support of DoD, NSA, or other federal agency requirements
- Direct experience working with regulatory bodies and government agencies to evaluate, approve, and sustain a security strategy
- Background in aerospace, defense, or another regulated, high-security industry
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use a computer to complete assignments
- Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone, and telepresence
- Ability to pick up to 12lbs
