Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Housekeeper, you will perform essential housekeeping duties to maintain an assigned area in a sanitary and orderly condition. This vital role contributes to the overall cleanliness and patient safety within our hospital environment.

 

Every day you will clean floors, walls, ceiling, windows, furniture, and equipment according to established procedures, ensuring that assigned areas are clean, attractive, and safe for patients, visitors, and staff. You will also utilize the AIDET principle to communicate with others, with a focus on patients and their families, acknowledging, introducing, explaining duration, and thanking them. Throughout your tasks, including thoroughly cleaning occupied or discharged patient rooms and accurately ensuring supplies are replenished and furniture is in an orderly arrangement, you will actively maintain the sanitary condition of our facilities. Additionally, you will collect regular and medical waste using established safety practices, ensuring protection of self, and process soiled linen throughout the facility using appropriate body mechanics and safe handling equipment, ensuring proper Personal Protective Equipment is used when performing all isolation cleaning in all areas.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate complete knowledge of Medical Waste handling and proper needle handling and disposal. This includes complete knowledge of the use and dilution of cleaning chemicals and germicidal cleaner, ensuring effective sanitation. You will also demonstrate understanding and competency regarding established isolation cleaning procedures and methods, crucial for maintaining a healthy and safe environment.

 

  • Cleans floors, walls, ceiling, windows, furniture, equipment according to established procedures.
  • Ensures that assigned areas are clean, attractive and safe for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Cleans occupied or discharged patient rooms thoroughly.
  • Collects regular and medical waste using established safety practices ensuring protection of self.
  • Collects soiled linen throughout the facility using appropriate body mechanics and safe handling equipment.
  • Demonstrates complete knowledge of Medical Waste handling and proper needle handling and disposal.

Job Requirements

Preferred

  • One year of housekeeping or cleaning experience in a hospital, medical facility or a convalescent facility
  • Driver's License: CA, upon hire
