MISSION
You will design and lead end‑to‑end solution architectures for our payments clients regionally and globally. You will translate complex business requirements into scalable, secure technical designs, support pre‑sales and project delivery, and guide engineering teams to implement robust solutions that create measurable business value.
ACTIVITIES
- Design and translate requirements into architectures. Collaborate with clients, product owners, and internal stakeholders to understand business objectives and constraints, then define target architectures, integration patterns, and technology choices that align with enterprise strategy.
- Lead technical assessments. Analyse existing systems and infrastructure, identify gaps and technical debt, and propose pragmatic migration paths and solution roadmaps that balance short term needs with long term sustainability.
- Own solution design for payments projects. Architect end to end solutions for processors, issuers, acquirers, and schemes, including APIs, back end services, data flows, and security controls across cloud and on premises environments.
- Support pre sales and proposals. Participate in discovery calls, workshops, and RFP responses; prepare architecture diagrams, estimates, and technical write ups that clearly articulate solution options, risks, and trade offs.
- Enable delivery teams. Work closely with developers, testers, and project managers to refine designs, clarify requirements, and remove technical blockers throughout implementation, ensuring solutions meet performance, security, and compliance expectations.
- Establish standards and governance. Define and promote architecture principles, patterns, and reference designs; conduct design and code reviews to ensure solutions are consistent, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise frameworks (e.g. TOGAF).
- Mentor and coach. Provide guidance and coaching to architects and engineers, helping them improve their design skills, understand payments domain complexities, and adopt best practices in cloud, integration, and security.
- Drive innovation and research. Stay current with emerging payments technologies, platforms, and regulatory changes; assess their relevance for clients and contribute to internal accelerators, frameworks, and proof of concepts.
JOB EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience as a Solution Architect designing and implementing complex systems.
- Prior background in software development, software architecture, or systems architecture.
- Proven experience in the payments domain: implementing solutions for payment processors, issuers, acquirers, domestic schemes, or similar organisations.
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end solution and software design, including integrations, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Experience working with cloud platforms and infrastructure (public or private), including security, performance, and scalability considerations.
- Track record of contributing to technical strategy, enterprise or platform roadmaps, and architecture governance processes.
- Experience leading or mentoring technical teams in multi disciplinary projects.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong hands‑on knowledge of Java (mandatory) and experience designing Java‑based systems; Python experience is an advantage.
- Knowledge of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or similar (e.g. Zachman, SAFe architecture practices), and ability to apply them pragmatically.
- Solid understanding of payments technologies and platforms (e.g. card processing, acquiring and issuing systems, domestic schemes, instant payments, APIs, security and cryptography, regulatory and compliance requirements).
- Experience with cloud and infrastructure concepts (IaaS, PaaS, containers, microservices, networking, security, observability).
- Ability to structure complex problems, analyse trade‑offs, and make clear, justified architectural decisions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to explain technical topics to business audiences and capture requirements accurately.
- Demonstrated collaboration skills, working effectively with cross‑functional and distributed teams.
- Strategic and analytical mindset, with resilience, autonomy, and strong organisational abilities to manage multiple initiatives in parallel.
- Fluency in Portuguese and professional proficiency in English.
