Work Hours: 8am- 4:30pm (Monday- Friday)
Employment Type: Full Time
Responsible for managing Burn Services Outreach Educational and Injury Prevention programs by providing program design, implementation, and evaluation of program initiatives.
MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Experience:
- Must have four years of progressive burn nursing experience.
Equivalent Experience:
- May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.
Certification/Registration/Licensure:
- Must have current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing, or valid Compact RN license.
- Must have current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from one of the following:
- American Heart Association
- American Red Cross
- Military Training Network
- Must have current Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification on hire or placement in role. Certification must be from one of the following:
- American Heart Association
- American Red Cross
- Military Training Network
- Must have certification in Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS), or obtain within 6 months of hire or placement in the role.
- Must maintain an instructor status in ABLS or obtain within 18 months of hire or placement in the role.
Skills or Special Abilities:
- Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with professional nursing staff, medical staff and allied health professionals attending classes.
- Must have superior writing skills to compose course outlines, objectives and manuals.
- Must demonstrate competence in technical skills and knowledge related to the Burn Program.
- Must be organized and creative in the educational process for both individual and large group classes.
- Must have exemplary clinical skills in Burn Care.
- Must be able to develop a positive, cooperative working relationship with community burn providers.
- Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
