The Director of AI Business Development combines sales leadership with direct engagement in business development activities, helping to expand market presence and drive adoption of CBIZ's AI consulting, implementation, governance, and managed services offerings. The Director works closely with the Vice President, AI Go-to-Market, as well as marketing, alliance, and delivery teams to execute a consistent and scalable sales strategy while supporting complex opportunities and client initiatives.
This is not a traditional business development role. It is a player-coach leadership position responsible for driving revenue growth, opening executive relationships, and leading a team of Account Executives to execute a repeatable, scalable sales motion. This is a rare opportunity to build a high-growth AI sales team, with strong executive visibility and direct alignment to one of the fastest-growing areas in technology.
The Director reports into the Vice President, AI Go-to-Market and manages Senior Account Executives responsible for building a repeatable and scalable AI sales motion.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Senior Account Executives.
- Conduct regular pipeline reviews, deal strategy sessions, and forecasting activities.
- Establish sales operating rhythms and performance expectations.
- Drive team quota attainment and pipeline generation.
- Support strategic opportunities and major pursuits.
- Recruit, onboard, and develop sales talent.
- Ensure CRM discipline, forecasting accuracy, and sales process compliance.
- Collaborate with marketing, alliances, and practice leadership.
- Execute partner-led and industry-specific sales campaigns.
- Report sales performance and market insights to executive leadership.
- 15+ years of consultative sales experience.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years leading quota-carrying sales teams.
Experience selling AI, cloud, data, cybersecurity, digital transformation, or consulting services.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex sales cycles and executive relationships.
Strong forecasting, coaching, and sales leadership skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's of business administration or equivalent, MBA preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of experience required
- Established business relationships in the local business community
- Possess industry knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills plus presentation skills
- Possess leadership qualities necessary to lead a team
- Ability to manage time effectively and to multi-task
