Caterpillar is seeking a Director Human Resources to support the Strategic Procurement & Planning Division (SPPD) based in Irving, Texas. This strategic HR leadership role serves as a trusted advisor to senior leaders responsible for procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain planning, logistics, inventory management, and enterprise planning. The Director Human Resources will lead the development and execution of global people strategies that enable business performance, organizational effectiveness, talent development and employee engagement across a global, matrixed organization. This role partners closely with senior stakeholders to shape workforce strategy, organizational design, leadership development, succession planning, and large-scale transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong business acumen, executive influence, change management and HR leadership expertise with an understanding of procurement, supply chain, planning, or operational organizations.
In addition to providing strategic HR leadership for SPPD, this position serves as the enterprise HR leader for procurement talent strategy, including workforce planning, capability development, succession management, and pipeline health. The successful candidate will combine strong business acumen, executive influence, change leadership, and HR expertise to help build organizational capability and deliver business results.
What you will do:
Serve as a trusted coach and strategic advisor to senior leaders on human resources matters including organizational effectiveness, talent management, succession planning, compensation, employee engagement, and workforce strategy.
Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives and enterprise priorities that drive retention, performance, leadership capability, and employee engagement.
Partner directly with leaders across the Strategic Procurement & Planning Division to align workforce strategies with procurement, sourcing, supply chain, logistics, planning, and operational excellence objectives.
Advise senior leaders on organizational design, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership capability strategies.
Analyze workforce data, organizational metrics, talent trends, and employee insights to develop executive-level recommendations that improve business outcomes.
Lead and develop HR leaders while fostering strong collaboration across HR Centers of Excellence, including Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Total Rewards, Learning & Development, and Employee Relations.
Support large-scale change management and transformation initiatives impacting procurement, strategic sourcing, planning, logistics, and supply chain organizations.
Lead talent initiatives that strengthen organizational capability across sourcing, supplier management, integrated business planning, logistics, inventory planning, and operational planning functions.
Drive alignment between business priorities and people strategies through proactive stakeholder engagement, communication planning, and leadership influence.
What you have:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience desired.
Significant Human Resources leadership experience supporting complex business organizations.
Proven ability to influence senior leaders and executive stakeholders on strategic people decisions.
Strong business acumen and ability to connect people strategies to business outcomes.
Expertise in talent management, succession planning, organizational effectiveness, and leadership development.
Demonstrated success leading organizational change, workforce transformation, and business-facing HR strategies.
Experience interpreting workforce analytics and using data-driven insights to influence decisions.
Strong decision-making, critical thinking, and strategic planning capabilities.
Ability to operate successfully in a highly matrixed global environment.
Exceptional communication, executive consulting, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills
Human Resources leadership experience supporting: Strategic Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Global Supply Chain, manufacturing Operations, Logistics, Distribution, Integrated Business Planning, Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), Inventory Management or Operational Excellence.
Experience supporting senior executives responsible for procurement, supply chain, sourcing, planning, or enterprise operations organizations.
Demonstrated success leading HR strategy within industrial manufacturing, construction equipment, heavy equipment, aerospace, automotive, energy, logistics, or supply chain-focused businesses.
Expertise in organizational design, workforce planning, talent reviews, succession management, and leadership capability development.
Experience supporting enterprise transformation, operating model changes, procurement modernization, supply chain optimization, or large-scale business change initiatives.

Summary Pay Range:
$189,080.00 - $283,630.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
