Accountabilities:
- Lead enterprise-wide credit risk management strategy, including credit policies, underwriting standards, approval processes, risk models, and portfolio monitoring frameworks.
- Oversee credit approval processes and ensure lending practices are consistent, scalable, and aligned with organizational goals and regulatory expectations.
- Develop, review, and communicate credit policies and procedures across teams to maintain consistency and operational excellence.
- Evaluate and enhance credit risk technologies, including predictive underwriting models, alternative data solutions, scoring systems, fraud controls, and compliance tools.
- Optimize underwriting processes by balancing automated decision-making, analytics, and human judgment to improve borrower experiences and risk outcomes.
- Monitor portfolio performance, asset quality, loan diversification, delinquencies, and credit trends while providing actionable recommendations to leadership.
- Ensure credit loss methodologies, including CECL processes and charge-off procedures, align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Establish strong internal controls, reporting systems, and governance processes to support accurate risk assessment and decision-making.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve loan servicing performance, collections strategies, and risk mitigation practices.
- Serve as a key representative with regulators, auditors, lending partners, and external stakeholders regarding credit management practices.
- Build and maintain a strong credit culture through training, coaching, mentoring, and development of credit risk teams.
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing talent while ensuring effective succession planning and organizational capability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of combined experience in commercial and consumer credit risk, including at least 5 years leading a small business credit function.
- Deep knowledge of credit operations, underwriting principles, portfolio management, and financial services control systems.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements, including Fair Lending, BSA/AML, and related lending regulations.
- Experience managing strategic relationships and advising internal and external stakeholders on credit risk decisions.
- Advanced knowledge of financial statement analysis, credit scoring, predictive analytics, modeling, and forecasting techniques.
- Ability to evaluate and implement risk technologies, automated underwriting solutions, and data-driven decision frameworks.
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience building, mentoring, and managing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence executive stakeholders.
- Strong analytical thinking, strategic vision, problem-solving abilities, and independent decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and quantitative tools used for credit analysis and portfolio management.
- Competitive salary range of $159,202 – $220,443, plus a 15% annual bonus target, depending on experience and qualifications.
