Accountabilities:
- Lead global accounting operations, including general accounting, financial close, technical accounting, SEC reporting, inventory accounting, financial systems, and internal controls.
- Oversee the preparation, review, and delivery of accurate consolidated financial statements for domestic and international operations.
- Manage SEC reporting activities, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant filings and disclosures.
- Lead technical accounting research and develop accounting position papers and memoranda aligned with U.S. GAAP requirements.
- Monitor emerging accounting standards and oversee implementation of new accounting guidance across the organization.
- Manage global accounting activities, including subsidiary accounting, consolidations, intercompany transactions, foreign currency accounting, and statutory reporting.
- Support strategic business initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, licensing agreements, financing activities, purchase accounting, and integration efforts.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders across legal, tax, FP&A, technology, human resources, and operations to provide financial guidance and governance.
- Drive finance transformation initiatives, including ERP optimization, automation, reporting improvements, data governance, and process enhancements.
- Strengthen the internal control environment and maintain compliance with SOX requirements, SEC regulations, and corporate governance standards.
- Oversee accounting policies, procedures, and operational standards to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for external auditors and financial advisors.
- Support Audit Committee and Board presentations by communicating complex accounting matters clearly and effectively.
- Improve financial close processes, reporting timelines, and accounting efficiency through automation and best practices.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting organization through coaching, succession planning, and talent development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
- Active CPA license required with extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and SOX compliance.
- 15–20 years of progressive accounting, financial reporting, or controllership experience.
- 8–10+ years of leadership experience within a finance organization.
- Proven experience leading accounting and SEC reporting functions for a publicly traded biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or similarly complex organization.
- Strong background managing and developing high-performing accounting teams.
- Big Four public accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Experience operating within a Sarbanes-Oxley control environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, licensing transactions, financing activities, and complex accounting matters.
- Experience evaluating, implementing, and optimizing ERP platforms and financial reporting systems.
- Experience within a commercial-stage, rapidly evolving biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment preferred.
- Executive presence with the ability to communicate complex financial topics to executive leadership, Audit Committees, and Boards of Directors.
- Strong business judgment with the ability to balance technical accounting requirements with practical business solutions.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, financial reporting platforms, and accounting technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead transformation initiatives, promote continuous improvement, and develop collaborative teams.
- Competitive base compensation range of approximately $285,000–$385,000 USD, plus additional incentive opportunities.
