JOB DESCRIPTION 

Iron EagleX (IEX) is seeking a proactive, problem-solving Senior Software Developer – Hybrid to join our team in Fort Liberty, NC. The team is embarking on a major application rewrite for a mission-critical system relied upon by our government and defense customers. This is an exciting opportunity for a software professional with expertise in Java, Spring Framework, and cloud-based technologies like Kubernetes to play a key role in reimagining this essential application.

This role will support the full software development lifecycle, contributing to design, development, deployment, and optimization of critical applications. This role requires hands-on experience with modern Java development frameworks and cloud technologies to ensure robust, scalable, and secure solutions. This role features a hybrid work environment with 3 days on site in Fayetteville, NC and two days WFH.

Job Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Python, Java and the Spring Framework.
  • Leverage OpenSearch to implement efficient search, indexing, and data retrieval capabilities.
  • Deploy, orchestrate, and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, architect solutions, and deliver clean, maintainable code.
  • Participate in major application rewrites, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and user-friendly.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Optimize and enhance existing codebases and workflows.
  • Contribute to the development of API-driven microservices architecture.
  • Document software designs, development processes, and system functionality.
  • Apply best practices in DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud development.
  • Proactively identify, communicate and resolve technical issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Support application testing, debugging, and deployment processes.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3+ years of software development experience, with strong proficiency in Python, Java and the Spring Framework.
  • Experience working with Elasticsearch and/or OpenSearch for indexing and search functionalities.
  • Hands-on experience with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
  • Proven ability to develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise applications in hybrid cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with modern development practices, including CI/CD, version control (Git), and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a "figure-it-out" mindset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced, dynamic team environments.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contract requirements.


Desired Skills:

  • Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Python.
  • Familiarity with message queueing systems like Kafka.
  • Understanding of modern DevSecOps principles.
  • Experience with full-stack development, including frontend frameworks.
  • Strong documentation and knowledge management skills

  • BS Degree in Computer Science preferred or related field
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance required.

The likely salary range for this position is $110,358 - $149,308. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
