Job Description Summary
The Engineering Manager/Leading P&C Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, configuration, testing, and commissioning of protection, control and integrity schemes for electrical substations, power plants, and industrial power systems. This role provides technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, ensuring that protection and control solutions are delivered in accordance with customer requirements, applicable standards, and company engineering practices.The role requires strong expertise in protection applications, control logic, relay configuration, substation automation, and system integration, as well as the ability to coordinate engineering activities, interface with customers, support tendering and training delivery. The Engineering Manager is expected to drive technical quality, support project execution, and provide mentoring and guidance to other engineers.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering and technical execution of protection, control and integrity schemes projects for substations, power plants, and industrial electrical systems.
- Define, develop and review protection and control applications in line with customer specifications, project requirements, grid codes and company standards.
- Take ownership of the technical design and configuration including:
- Busbar protection
- Line differential protection
- Transformer protection
- Generator and motor protection
- Automatic transfer and interlocking schemes
- System Integrity Protection Schemes
- Lead the design and review of protection philosophies, control logic, interlocking schemes, integrity schemes, and relay coordination studies.
- Configure and validate protection relays and associated control devices, including preparation of relay settings, logic configuration, and communication interfaces.
- Coordinate and perform protection relay testing, functional testing, panel testing, and integrated system verification.
- Plan, organize, and lead pre-FAT, FAT, SAT, and site commissioning activities for protection and control systems.
- Provide technical leadership during installation, energization, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning at site.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders on protection and control matters.
- Review technical documentation and ensure delivery of high-quality engineering outputs, including design documents, test procedures, reports, and as-built files.
- Support tendering and sales activities by preparing technical solutions, reviewing customer specifications, identifying risks, and contributing to proposal development.
- Deliver and coordinate technical training for customers and internal teams on protection relays, control schemes, integrity schemes, testing methods, and system operation.
- Support service teams and customers with advanced troubleshooting, technical clarifications, and hotline support under service and framework contracts.
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement of engineering practices, tools, templates, and testing procedures.
- Provide technical mentoring and day-to-day guidance to engineers within the protection and control team.
- Apply sound engineering judgment to solve complex technical issues and make recommendations beyond standard solutions where required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with specialization in power systems, protection, and control.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in protection and control engineering for substations, power plants or industrial power systems.
- Strong knowledge of protection, control, and integrity schemes in utility and industrial electrical applications.
- Proven experience in the design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of protection and control systems.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with protection relays such as MiCOM and/or GE Multilin.
- Proven experience leading or executing FAT, SAT and commissioning activities.
- Solid understanding of relay coordination, protection philosophies, control logic, and substation engineering practices.
- Strong knowledge of substation communication protocols and substation automation systems.
- Familiarity with modern technologies in substation automation, particularly digital substations and IEC 61850-based solutions.
- Experience with OMICRON Control Center and related protection testing tools.
- Experience in preparing and delivering technical training.
- Fluent in English.
- Fluent in Russian.
Desired Characteristics
- Experience with communication networks, including switches, routers, and network architecture in substation environments.
- Knowledge of SCADA, DCS or electrical control systems.
- Experience with Engineering Base or Eplan is a plus.
- Experience with Cyber Secure solutions is a strong plus

Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a technically strong and customer-focused Protection & Control professional with proven experience leading engineering activities for complex power system projects. They bring deep expertise in protection, control, and integrity schemes, along with the ability to guide project execution, support customers, lead FAT/SAT and commissioning, and develop team capability through mentoring and training.
