Maritime Threat Response Coordinator

This vacancy is for a GS-0301-13, Maritime Threat Response Coordinator located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Global Maritime Operational Threat Response Coordinator Center (GMCC) in Washington, District of Columbia. You will serve as a Maritime Threat Response Coordinator and be responsible for serving as a facilitator, ensuring coordination among the various U.S. departments, agencies, or international partner nations when a response to maritime threats or incidents is warranted. Maritime threats can include, but are not limited to, terrorism, piracy, cyber, counterdrug, irregular migration, and international fisheries operations. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Facilitating the interagency coordination of desired national outcomes and preferred course of actions for all Maritime Operational Response (MOTR) Plan activities involving Department of Homeland Security (DHS) components or having DHS equities, consistent with national policy. Assisting with the development of time-sensitive interagency responses to threats in the maritime environment involving or impacting the United States. Overseeing communication responsibilities (internal and external to DHS), including facilitating real-time senior leadership collaboration in support of the maritime alerts/warnings system, and other information mechanisms, as appropriate. Providing oversight of threat and incident information, de-conflicting areas of duplication and prioritizing tasking and efforts, to ensure situational awareness of all significant maritime threat reporting or incidents is maintained. Interacting with various U.S and foreign officials before, during and after a maritime threat response, to produce a rapid and coordinated result, and seeking additional information on unfolding threats or events from U.S. and foreign partners, as needed. Assisting with the development of time-sensitive interagency responses to threats in the maritime environment involving or impacting the United States or citizens of the United States, in accordance with procedures and protocols. Notifying Coast Guard, DHS and/or other agency leadership of significant maritime threat information or incidents.
