The Director, Lending & Membership Rewards is a key leadership role within the Amex Bank of Canada issuing business. This leader is responsible for driving growth, profitability, and customer value across Lending and Membership Rewards. Working closely with Finance, Risk, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Cardmember Benefits, and enterprise partners, the role develops and executes strategies that strengthen customer engagement, deliver sustainable economics, and support competitive differentiation.
Strategy & Analytics
• Develop growth, engagement, and profitability strategies informed by customer, competitive, and market insights.
• Evaluate product, offer, and investment performance to identify opportunities and optimize outcomes.
• Monitor industry, customer, and regulatory trends to shape future priorities.
Business Performance
• Establish clear business objectives and improve performance across key customer and financial metrics.
• Deliver results with urgency across a complex and evolving portfolio.
Cross-Functional Leadership
• Align stakeholders on portfolio priorities, investment decisions, and strategic roadmaps.
• Influence senior leaders and partners to advance initiatives and resolve challenges.
• Foster collaboration across Product, Finance, Risk, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and enterprise teams.
Execution & Portfolio Management
• Lead strategic initiatives from concept through implementation and optimization.
• Manage multiple priorities with strong discipline, accountability, and risk awareness.
• Proactively identify delivery risks and implement mitigation plans.
• Support the evolution of lending capabilities and loyalty strategies.
People Leadership
• Lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
• Foster an inclusive, accountable, and innovative culture.
• Build team capability through strategic thinking, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, and 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in strategy, portfolio management, business growth, and cross-functional leadership.
- Strong understanding of card economics and key business drivers, experience managing inputs to a P&L, and a proven track record of identifying and executing opportunities to drive revenue and enhance profitability
- Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to translate data into actionable business recommendations.
- Outstanding communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation abilities, with the capacity to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable messages.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging by embracing diverse perspectives through open communication, constructive feedback, and candid dialogue.
