We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Embedded Software Developer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of automotive innovation, focusing on the design, implementation, and optimization of software that enables seamless, secure, and robust connectivity between our next-generation vehicles and cloud-based systems.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software, build innovative proof-of-concepts, and continuously improve our existing software architecture.
What you'll do...
The primary responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:
- Feature Development: Design, implement, test, and support new software features and capabilities dedicated to vehicle-cloud connectivity.
- Problem Solving & Maintenance: Investigate, debug, and resolve complex software bugs and system issues to ensure high reliability and performance.
- Code & Design Reviews: Actively participate in peer reviews, evaluating the software designs and code changes of other team members to maintain high standards of quality, security, and maintainability.
- Innovation & Prototyping: Research, investigate, and develop Proof of Concepts (PoCs) for new connectivity features or potential performance and architectural improvements for existing software.
- Agile Collaboration: Work collaboratively within a cross-functional Agile team of software developers, testers, and product owners.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field of study.
Experience:
- 5+ years C/C++ software development experience.
- Proven experience with multi-threaded embedded system design and Real-Time OS (RTOS) concepts.
- Embedded Development: Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C and C++ for embedded systems.
- Operating Systems: Experience working with embedded operating systems (e.g., RTOS, Embedded Linux, QNX).
- Connectivity Protocols: Familiarity with networking and communication protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, MQTT, gRPC, HTTP, CAN, LIN, or Ethernet).
- Tools & Methodologies: Experience working within an Agile/Scrum software development lifecycle
- Proficiency with version control systems (specifically Git)

- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field of study.
Experience:
- Experience with automotive software standards (e.g., AUTOSAR, ISO 26262 functional safety).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and IoT frameworks.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles in embedded or automotive systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a collaborative mindset to work effectively across diverse teams.
- Familiarity with debugging tools, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers is a plus.

The expected annual salary range for this Ford of Canada position is $96,000.00 - $146,000.00 and individuals may be eligible to participate in our Annual Compensation bonus program.
Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.
