HVAC Controls Project Management Leader
What will you do
Supervises a team of Project Managers, Construction Managers, Project Executives and Site Superintendents within an assigned Area to plan, execute, and complete major projects with assigned customers. Responsible for the overall financial results of a portfolio of assigned projects. Actively ensures that direct reports pursue selling change orders. Ensures work performed complies with state, local and Federal legal requirements and operates on the job with the highest of ethics. Ensures Johnson Controls staff and subcontractors adhere to all safety standards.
External Relationships:
The Connected Technology Installation Manager is actively involved with major national and regional firms and builds relationships with the project owners of mechanical contractors, general contractors, subcontractors, construction firm leaders, and engineering consultants.
Internal Relationships:
Assists Area Management Team to effectively plan for future resource needs, training and development of the technical field force, and assists in allocating resource needs to meet near term commitments.
Assists Area Management Team in the preparation of the annual strategic and financial operating plan.
Assists Area Management Team on coaching Local Market team management on successful execution strategies and objectives.
Assists Area Sales Management team by working with engaging Project Managers and Construction Managers in sales support activities early in the sales process to provide input on vendor/partners selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, risk assessment etc. Leverages installation capabilities as a sales differentiator.
HVAC Installation Managers and System Team Leaders as needed in resolution of project related issues within assigned Local Market team.
How will you do it
Manages the profitable execution of Major Projects across the Area. Ensuring that all assigned projects are executed with high levels of customer satisfaction, completed on time, billed, within budget and within scope of the contract. Maintains profitability goals and positive cash flow. Assists Directory of Operations Major Projects, Area Installation Managers, and HVAC Installation Managers in the preparation of Business Plans and Mid-Month forecasts for revenue, executed gross margin, backlog, billings and collections by Local Market team for the HVAC (equipment and controls) and Security and Fire businesses. Hires, retains, performance manages, and plans for career development of direct reports. Prepares and delivers clear performance expectations, performance reviews and development plans for direct reports. Works with Directory of Operations Major Projects to ensure that Project Managers and Construction Managers and Project Executives develop and adhere to a Project Execution Plan and Cost/Resource Loaded Schedule for each assigned project. Promotes the securing of change orders and provides overall management of the change order process. Coordinates with the Connected Technology Field Support Manager and Director of North American Manufacturing Operations to help resolve equipment issues that are elevated above the HVAC Local Market team Operations. Works collaboratively with Area Management Team and Connected Technology Continuous Improvement Manager to achieve compliance, at the Area level and Local Market team level, of Engineering and Execution standards of all installation projects. Works collaboratively with Area Management Team and Connected Technology Continuous Improvement Manager to drive reductions in executed MTC cost per point, executed electrical cost per point, and slippage (equipment, performance contracting, controls and S&F). Works collaboratively with Area Management Team and Connected Technology Continuous Improvement Manager to drive all continuous Improvement measurements for Technology and Performance Contracts Engages and Supports the Connected Technology Field Support Manager to ensure that technical and quality issues are resolved in the Area in a timely manner. Ensures that all product deployments and applicable technical training are scheduled and implemented across the Area. Works with the Engineering Leader to ensure that Systems Engineering resources are scheduled properly to support specialty work, engineering, software programming and commissioning. Optimizes Major Project engineering productivity. Ensures compliance with state, local and federal legal requirements and ensures that installation business is conducted with the highest ethical standards. Works collaboratively with the Connected Technology Safety Manager championing and driving the SSNA Safety Program for employees and subcontractors at all levels in the Connected Technology Installation organization with goals of zero lost time and zero recordable incidents. Promotes SSNA objectives for workplace and supplier diversity. Participate in Area Pre-Bid Reviews as assigned to ensure projects are developed to meet all project and specification requirements, sufficient costs and risk are carried needed to perform the work, and that the execution plan includes sufficient resources to perform the work. Assign Project Managers as needed to support major project cost development needs.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture with a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible operations management experience in the Building Construction Industry including five or more years of direct project management experience. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Strong presentation skills and proficiency in speaking to large audiences. Able to travel up to 50% of time. Strong Personal Computer working capabilities in MS Projects, MS Office (excel, word, power point), Adobe Writer, Visio and basic Windows environment.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $100,000 - $135,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
