Your Team Responsibilities

Liquid Markets Transparency Data (LMTD) provides transparency data for marketable funds within MSCI’s Private Capital Solutions product line. We compile and quality-assure the position, exposure, and fund data that institutional asset owners rely on to see through to their underlying exposures. The team is modernizing how that work gets done – adopting AI-assisted tooling and automation to handle scale and improve accuracy – and analysts are central to it: processing the data, supporting the clients who depend on it, and continually finding ways to use AI to do both better.

The Analyst on the Liquid Markets Transparency Data team is responsible for two main areas of work: the processing of positions and exposures data within marketable funds that underpins the team’s transparency service, and the handling of client cases on the Data side, including the explanation of reporting methodologies, exception-based processing, and the management of data updates. The role is AI-first. Consistent with MSCI’s strategy, the Analyst is expected to make routine use of the available AI tools — e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, and in-house solutions — and to identify new applications of AI that improve and streamline existing workflows, which is central to success in the role and career advancement. The data the team produces is compiled on behalf of institutional asset owner clients, who rely on LMTD’s output data to understand their portfolio composition and to measure exposure and risk.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Process, validate, and maintain position and exposure data — alongside fund and portfolio data — to a high standard of accuracy and completeness, identifying the relevant data points from fund manager reporting and other sources.
  • Handle client cases for Data: respond to and resolve client queries, explain how the data is compiled and the methodologies behind it, and manage exception-based processing and data updates.
  • Work in an AI-first way: use the firm’s AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, and in-house solutions) as a normal part of day-to-day work, and proactively find new ways to apply AI to improve and streamline existing workflows.
  • Perform quality-control and audit checks across the content set, applying AI-driven checks alongside established control processes, and take on increasing ownership of the audit process over time.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of fund exposures, valuations, capital flows, risk reporting methodologies, financial statement metrics, and industry standards.
  • Comply with all data policies, standards, and processes, and collaborate closely with team members to meet personal and team deadlines.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 0–3 years of relevant professional experience; recent graduates with strong academic credentials are encouraged to apply.
  • Foundational knowledge of financial markets, accounting principles, and capital markets.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI-powered tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Replit) as part of daily work, with a curiosity for identifying new ways to improve workflows and efficiency. This is an AI-first role.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy and quality, with the ability to identify and resolve inconsistencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain data, methodologies, and analytical findings clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong client-service orientation, with a proactive approach to investigating issues, managing follow-through, and delivering timely, high-quality solutions.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to work confidently with data, statistics, and large datasets.
  • Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, Freshdesk, or similar tools is preferred.
  • Proficiency with data management and analysis tools, including Microsoft Excel and SQL, is highly desirable.
