Sr. Principle Product Engineer (NPD)

onsemi is currently seeking an experienced Product Engineer to develop and optimize Integrated-Driver GaN HEMT devices. This person will utilize her/his knowledge, skills, and most importantly energy and willingness to learn, to take on challenges to support onsemi’s  technology and operations teams to improve the reliability and manufacturability of our GaN power device products.

Job Role

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a team player who is able to work in a cross-functional, cross time-zone semiconductor environment. 

  • Technical project leader for the development & release of new products
  • Participate in new product technical specification definition 
  • Responsible for planning and execution of committed product engineering key deliverables such as
    • Final test plan content relevant to customer and internal quality control requirements
    • Support prototype, customer samples, and qualification material build
    • Support product characterization, failure analysis, and reliability request
    • Product electrical parametric data analysis and yield enhancement
    • Trouble -shooting peripheral circuits: DESAT short‑circuit protection, OTP thermal protection, UVLO under‑voltage lockout, fault reporting, bootstrap circuit, dv/dt slew‑rate control
  • Basic data setup for new products in manufacturing system
  • Support manufacturing review and approval for new product release
  • Responsibility to handover completed projects to relevant sustaining engineering team members

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, major in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation or related fields; 
  • 8+ years of high‑power topoloties experience such as half‑bridge, LLC, totem‑pole PFC, high‑voltage Buck/Boost. 
  • Debug peripheral circuits: DESAT short‑circuit protection, OTP thermal protection, UVLO under‑voltage lockout, fault reporting, bootstrap circuit, dv/dt slew‑rate control, etc
  • Proficient in high‑frequency power topologies; skilled in oscilloscopes, double‑pulse testing, power analyzers and other test equipment; capable of debugging gate drive and full‑chain protection logic independently 
  • Familiar with Acco, ETS, powertech tester platform
  • Able to read English datasheets; strong hands‑on ability to troubleshoot hardware issues including device breakdown, oscillation and false triggering.
