Collins Aerospace is seeking an Automation Technologist to join our Automation Center of Excellence (CoE), a team dedicated to accelerating business value through automation, integration, AI, and emerging technologies. Serving as the first stop for business teams exploring automation opportunities, the CoE operates as both a trusted advisor and an innovation incubator—rapidly assessing ideas, identifying the right solutions, and developing MVPs, prototypes, and proofs of concept that demonstrate measurable value. 

In this role, you'll work at the intersection of business and technology, partnering closely with stakeholders to transform challenges into working solutions. You'll have the opportunity to experiment with modern automation platforms, AI capabilities, and development technologies while delivering tangible results quickly. Successful solutions are then transitioned to enterprise delivery teams for scaling, operationalization, and long-term support, allowing you to continuously focus on innovation, discovery, and the next generation of automation opportunities.

What YOU will do: 

  • Identify, assess, and document business processes suitable for automation and digital transformation. 

  • Partner with business stakeholders and Digital Technology teams to gather requirements and translate them into automation solutions. 

  • Design, develop, and prototype automation solutions using low-code, no-code, and traditional development technologies. 

  • Build and support minimum viable products (MVPs), proofs of concept, and pilot solutions to validate business value. 

  • Develop workflow automation, system integrations, and AI-enabled solutions using approved enterprise platforms and tools. 

  • Contribute to process mapping, task analysis, and automation opportunity assessments. 

  • Participate in workshops and discovery sessions to understand business challenges and identify improvement opportunities. 

  • Support implementation of automation solutions across enterprise systems, applications, and data platforms. 

  • Collaborate with architects, developers, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and platform teams to ensure secure and sustainable solutions. 

  • Document solution designs, technical specifications, and operational procedures. 

  • Assist in establishing and promoting automation best practices, standards, and reusable solution patterns. 

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve deployed automation solutions.

Qualifications YOU Must Have:  

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience. 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Demonstrated experience in automation and / or integration implementation.  

  • Experience contributing to automation solutions within complex enterprise environments, applying established Digital Technology standards and practices. 

  • Hands-on experience designing and operating at least one integration or automation platform (e.g., Appian, BluePrism, Boomi, Power Automate, UiPath, Automation Anywhere, BPM suites). 

  • Experience in developing design documentation. 

  • Experience in conducting process discovery, process documentation, or business process mapping. 

Qualifications We Prefer: 

  • Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse)  

  • API and system integration development  

  • Python, JavaScript, TypeScript 

  • Understanding of SQL and ontologies 

  • AI-enabled automation and Copilot technologies  

  • Business process mapping and workflow design  

  • Experience in agile development methodologies 

  • Solid understanding of SDLC and version control using git 

  • Strong grasp of IT security protocols, processes and best practices 

  • Understanding of containerization  

  • Understanding of AWS and Azure AI and automation service 

  • Understanding of Open API Specification  

  • Understanding of Oauth and/or Saml authentication 

  • Understanding of YAML, Json, SOAP
