Connection to our work, our customers, our colleagues and our community that creates a working environment that fosters openness, collaboration and creativity.Purpose of the RoleThe Group General Ledger Accountant is a key member of the Group Statutory Reporting and Technical Accounting team, reporting to the Group Accounting Manager.Together, this lean, high impact team of two is responsible for:The annual Group consolidated financial statementsLocal statutory financial statements across the GroupTechnical accounting support and policy application across the businessThis role is suitable for a fully qualified accountant who is either:Coming directly out of practice into their first industry role, or1–3 years post qualification, seeking broader ownership and impactThe team is deliberately being shaped as a future focused controllership function, driven by finance transformation, automation, AI leverage and Lean ways of working. A strong technical base combined with curiosity, adaptability and a transformation mindset is critical.Key Accountabilities1. Group Statutory & Consolidated ReportingConsolidation adjustmentsGroup journals and eliminationsDisclosures and supporting schedulesPrepare and coordinate local statutory financial statements across multiple jurisdictionsLiaise with external auditors during statutory auditsTechnically robustWell supportedDelivered efficiently and on time2. General Ledger Ownership & Close SupportOwn and prepare assigned GL areas, journals and reconciliationsSupport month end, quarter end and year end close activitiesInvestigate and resolve accounting issues and balancesPartner with wider Finance teams to ensure accurate and complete GL postings3. Technical Accounting & Policy SupportTechnical accounting assessmentsAccounting memos and position papersInterpretation and application of IFRS / FRS standardsAssist with the implementation of new accounting standards and policiesMaintain clear, audit ready documentation aligned with Group policies4. Finance Transformation, Automation & Lean AccountingActively contribute to the modernisation of statutory and GL reporting processesReduction in manual journals and reconciliationsIncreased use of system generated dataLeaner and more predictable close cyclesAutomate repeatable tasksEliminate low value manual workImprove data quality at sourceWork closely with Finance Systems and Data teams on transformation initiatives5.
