Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

We're looking for a reliable and safety-focused Tractor - Mower Operator / Pilot Support Drivers to join our team based in Marton and Taihape. You will be supporting our roadside vegetation maintenance programme across the Rangitīkei District.

In this varied outdoor role, you'll:

  • Operate a tractor / mower to control roadside vegetation
  • Drive a tail pilot Ute behind mowing operations to provide advance warning to road users
  • Help ensure the safety of crews and the travelling public
  • Assist with roadside maintenance activities including litter collection and edge marker post replacement
  • Support mowing operations and general contract activities as required
  • Work as part of a dedicated team delivering essential maintenance across the region
     

This is a fixed-term seasonal position from October through to April. For the right person, there may be opportunities to continue your career with Downer beyond the season.

We're looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in getting the job done safely and efficiently.

You'll ideally have:

  • A full Class 1 Driver Licence
  • Experience operating agricultural or rural equipment (preferred)
  • A strong commitment to health and safety
  • Good physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic
  • A positive, can-do attitude
  • Flexibility to assist with call-outs and seasonal work as required
