The Opportunity
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) are field-based agents acting as scientific resource and experts within the Medical Affairs organization for information pertaining to disease states and the company's products to ensure awareness and understanding. They deliver credible presentations on scientific matters to health care providers, individually or in groups. MSLs focus on key opinion leaders establishing, fostering and maintaining relationships with them to build outstanding product awareness and advocacy in the field. They also facilitate research initiatives and publications. The position is based on our Commercial Office located in Providencia, Santiago de Chile.
What You’ll Do
- Create and execute a short and long-term medical and scientific support plan, based on understanding unmet needs of the key opinion leaders and the competitive landscape;
- Disseminate clinical and scientific information and provide scientific and technical support to ensure access to updated information on products and areas of therapeutic interest;
- Propose relationship actions with HCPs to the medical team;
- Support the medical team in Continuing Medical Education events with Doctors and/or HCP´s, through the implementation of medical education events, proactively developing relationships with doctors and scientific opinion leaders;
- Ensure one strong medical and scientific presence for EPD in key academic centers by facilitation of research initiatives;
- Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other in-field members (Market Access, Sales) while retaining functional independence;
- Contribute with insights captured during visits to doctors and opinion leaders;
- Participate in meetings and congresses of relevant scientific societies and develop summaries of the main messages for use by Abbott;
Minimum Education and Experience/ Training Required
- Medical Degree in health, preferably pharmacy, nutrition, biomedicine, and nursing. MSC and/or Ph.D. will be differentials.
- Advanced English.
- 1-3 years of experience as MSL, Health-related knowledge.
- Organization and planning, Good interpersonal skills, communication and collaboration skills.
- Advanced ability to make scientific presentations, Intellectual curiosity about medicine, sciences, and related fields.
- Ability to observe and respect aspects of confidentiality and professional ethics.
- Intermediate / advanced computer skills.
- Availability to travel
