Role Overview
As a Life Safety Systems Sales Representative, Electronic, you will represent Johnson Controls in the promotion and sale of Fire Safety Systems to customers and end users within an assigned territory and accounts. This role combines prospecting, consultative selling, territory management, and follow-through to grow new business and expand existing customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish contact with prospects and qualify potential buyers by scheduling sales calls, following up on leads, and using Johnson Controls marketing strategies.
- Develop a sales strategy to understand product offerings, qualify and prioritize opportunities, and maintain accurate territory records.
- Conduct seminars, demonstrations, and other activities to generate, develop, and qualify leads for prospective customers.
- Prepare financial justifications, proposals, and presentations, and follow up effectively to close the sale.
- Interface with district operations to support and improve service delivery.
- Deliver sales against an assigned quota while maintaining focus on growth and margin.
- Maintain established accounts through regular customer contact to support follow-on sales.
- Report progress and share weekly and monthly metrics with operations and corporate teams.
- Participate in trade shows, special product demonstrations, and other events to grow sales and strengthen the company image.
How You Will Do It
- Build a disciplined pipeline by contacting prospects early, qualifying opportunities quickly, and following up consistently.
- Use Johnson Controls marketing strategies and territory insight to focus on the opportunities that matter most.
- Work closely with district operations to remove obstacles, improve service delivery, and keep customer commitments on track.
- Develop proposals and presentations that clearly show value, and own outcomes with accountability and integrity.
- Share progress openly through weekly and monthly reporting, then use that feedback to improve every day through candor and problem-solving.
- Collaborate across teams, respect diverse perspectives, and win as one team while keeping the customer experience strong.
Qualifications
- Highly motivated and success driven.
- Ability to quickly identify and qualify opportunities.
- Ability to persuade and close sales.
- High degree of self-discipline.
- Good oral and written communication skills and sales techniques.
- Self-motivation with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to acquire appropriate licenses required by national, state, and local codes.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with electrical contractors and the ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Computer experience, with Microsoft and Oracle programs preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of five years of successful sales experience in Electronic or a similar industry.

The hiring salary range for this role is $62,000 - $96,000, with compensation determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market alignment.
