Senior Program Manager, Supply Chain Fulfillment Optimization
Tokyo, JapanFull-timePosted Jul 6, 2026
ApplyThe JP Fulfillment Optimization (FO) team owns the levers that determine how efficiently customer orders are fulfilled across Japan's network. This role identifies the gaps that prevent ideal fulfillment and builds the products and programs that close them, improving cost-to-serve, delivery speed, and customer experience at scale.
You will work at the intersection of data science, operations, and program management to diagnose where the network is leaving efficiency on the table and drive the initiatives that fix it. You will partner closely with SCOT, Supply Chain, Transportation, Retail, and Finance to translate diagnosis into measurable network improvement. This is a high-ownership role with direct impact on JP Stores' unit economics and long-range fulfillment strategy.
At Amazon, you'll work alongside the latest AI and GenAI tools that are increasingly woven into how teams operate: from AI-powered capabilities that accelerate decision-making, to Generative AI that helps you focus on work that truly matters. You'll have opportunities and resources to develop AI fluency at your own pace, with continuous learning built into the culture.
Key job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Identify fulfillment gaps (data-driven analysis). Analyze network performance, data, and metrics to pinpoint where ideal fulfillment breaks down, across consolidation (UPB, UPPD), placement (LA, iFCA, iFCIS), regionalization (IRIS, IRA), and peak periods. Understand complex supply-chain mechanisms independently and dive deep into large volumes of data, separating what is controllable from what is structural and quantifying the opportunity. This requires strong comprehension and logical thinking.
Plan and execute efficiency improvements. Based on the analysis, define the issues and build the products and programs that close the gaps, such as consolidation improvements, load-balancing and placement optimization, reactive and holds optimization, transship tuning, and demand de-peaking. Own end-to-end project management and coordinate with all relevant stakeholders to deliver measurable gains in shipping/delivery efficiency and cost.
Own metrics, mechanisms, and reporting. Set goals and build the monitoring and root-cause mechanisms (audits, MBRs, dashboards). Share information with stakeholders and report progress and risks to leadership through clear, data-backed narratives.
Roll out systems to Japan. Partner with the central development teams to implement and operationalize new system features and enhancements. System development is handled at headquarters and deployed first in the US, then to each region. Act as the point of contact through to implementation: judging rollout priorities in light of Japan-specific business context, localizing specifications, assessing the impact on JP business and operations, and coordinating with stakeholders. Smooth communication in both Japanese and English, across members with differing perspectives, is required.
Partner cross-functionally. Align SCOT, Supply Chain, Transportation, Retail, and Finance around a single view of fulfillment trade-offs (cost vs. speed vs. topline), surfacing disconnects early and resolving them.
Drive long-range strategy. Feed fulfillment insights into OP1 / 3YF planning and long-range capacity decisions, ensuring the network is set up to grow without proportionally scaling cost.
Support internal users. For the systems you own, respond to inquiries from internal users, identify problems, and provide support through to resolution.
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Strong analytical capabilities with experience in complex system optimization
- Proven track record of driving transformational change
- Experience in balancing competing priorities across multiple stakeholders
- Excellence in data-driven decision making and financial modeling
- Proficiency in English
- Experience in retail operations or e-commerce
- Knowledge of advanced analytics and machine learning
