We're growing fast, expanding internationally, and backed by a strong group of global venture capital firms  This isn't a role you'll inherit, it's one you'll build. You'll design the legal function from the ground up: commercial contracting, GDPR and regulatory direction, and corporate and strategic legal support, with the autonomy to shape how it all works and the mandate to grow it into a team over time. Why this role: Genuine seniority, from day one - Join as Head of Function, reporting directly to the COO, with direct, regular access to the Executive Committee Build, don't just maintain - There's no legal team, no templates, no playbooks yet, you'll create all of it, on a blank canvas Real variety, real ownership -  Own complex enterprise SaaS negotiations, guide our GDPR and regulatory posture, and get a front-row seat on live M&A and investment activity, with specialist external counsel to lean on A true seat at the table - Legal is treated as a strategic partner here, working hand-in-hand with product, engineering, commercial and security teams A 4-day working week - Full-time, permanent, with a genuinely 4-day schedule built in What you'll bring: 7+ years' PQE with deep experience in SaaS or technology commercial contracting, including enterprise-level negotiation LLB or equivalent legal qualification Strong GDPR and data privacy fluency, with practical contractual and regulatory experience A track record of operating autonomously and making sound judgement calls without a safety net Comfort building process from scratch, and the judgement to know when to bring in outside expertise 📍 Cape Town, hybrid If you've been looking for the step up from senior counsel to a genuine function-architect role with real seniority, real variety, and a 4-day week to match,  we'd love to hear from you.
