At OBT Group, the Project Logistics Specialist plays a key role in coordinating complex logistics projects for customers across the mining, renewables, and industrial sectors. The role focuses on delivering efficient transport solutions, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring the successful execution of project cargo movements.

Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience with freight forwarding, preferably within project cargo segments.
- Relevant educational background within Shipping and Logistics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Freight Forwarding / Logistics system experience is a preferred.
- Knowledge of basic international shipping terms and general customs specifications.
- Technical background from a transport, shipping or similar is a plus but not required.
- Communication and stakeholder management skills - English.
- Independent and able to schedule priorities according to deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Attention to details.
- French or Portuguese is not a requirement but a plus..
- Able to travel for projects within the Schengen area (candidate should either hold valid visa or a passport with no visa requirements).
- Significant travel worldwide including Africa to be expected.
Responsibilities
- Project logistics management for customers within the mining, renewables and industrial segments.
- Key responsibilities will include participation in status meetings with relevant key account customers and update on project milestones, challenges and solutions to relevant country managers, logistics managers and vertical managers depending on location and type of project.
- Design of transport solutions to meet project requirements in terms of transit time, budget etc.
- Coordination with 3rd party logistics providers globally outside Africa and approved vendors in Africa through OBT Logistics offices.
- Oversee and supervise transport and logistics solutions worldwide.
- Example; out of gauge transport, vessel cargo handling and relevant coordination between stakeholders i.e. shippers and receivers.
- Reporting as per internal and external requirements on shipping progress, KPI’s and other milestones.
- Prepare cost verification and submit for invoicing.
- Verify shipping and cargo documentation prior to dispatch.
- On-site cargo inspections and supervision.
- Specific project related route surveys.
