We are seeking a strategic, resilient, and experienced Finance Director to lead financial oversight and business partnering for DaVita’s Technology organization. This is a high-visibility leadership role responsible for managing complex portfolios, including the Product and IT lane financials, driving fiscal discipline, and optimizing technology investments to fuel enterprise innovation.

As a Finance Director, you will serve as the primary strategic finance partner to senior leadership (including the CIO, CTO, CPO, and Vice Presidents). You will play a pivotal role in shifting the function from standard reporting to proactive strategic advisory—building forward-looking financial tools, establishing robust processes to scale the team’s capabilities, and driving cross-functional alignment on multi-year strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Financial Leadership & Executive Partnership

  • Executive Partnering: Act as the CFO-designate for specific Technology and Product domains, proactively advising C-suite leaders and VPs on financial performance, investment risks, and strategic trade-offs.
  • Strategic Advisory: Shift focus from transactional support to strategic advisory; develop comprehensive tools such as forward-looking Risks & Opportunities (R&O) views and headcount summaries to empower leaders to manage their budgets proactively rather than reactively.
  • Storytelling & Visibility: Lead the narrative for Monthly Financial Reviews (MFRs) and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), translating complex financial data into compelling, actionable business insights for senior executives.

2. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) & Operational Excellence

  • Annual Operating Plan (AOP) & Forecasting: Lead the end-to-end annual budgeting and forecasting cycles for Technology portfolios. Orchestrate complex models for labor, software licensing, vendor contracts, and hardware maintenance.
  • Process Transformation: Drive the consolidation and optimization of financial systems (e.g., Anaplan, Oracle, Apptio). Automate manual workflows, streamline reporting, and systematically transition non-core administrative tasks to maximize team bandwidth.
  • Spend Optimization: Partner with Vendor Management (VMO) and Procurement to analyze major contracts, ensuring optimal deal structures, budget alignment, and cost efficiency across "Run, Grow, and Transform" investment categories.

3. Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • People Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of finance professionals (including Managers and Analysts). Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high engagement.
  • Capacity Building: Direct robust onboarding and integration plans for new team members; delegate core operational workflows effectively to elevate the function to a strategic advisory level and alleviate capacity constraints.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in Corporate Finance, FP&A, or strategic finance roles, with at least 5+ years in a management or lead capacity. Extensive experience supporting Technology/IT organizations or managing large, complex P&Ls is strongly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CPA/CMA is highly valued.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep proficiency in financial modeling (Excel), presentation building (PowerPoint), and enterprise financial systems (e.g., Anaplan, Oracle, Apptio, Hyperion/Essbase).
  • Strategic Agility: Proven ability to “connect the dots” between operational metrics and financial outcomes, with the confidence and business acumen to constructively challenge senior leadership and push back on non-value-added requests.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading teams through change, managing competing priorities, and developing talent to the next level.

Core Competencies

  • Strategic Mindset: Sees the big picture and adjusts financial strategies to support broader organizational goals. Focuses on building scalable processes rather than just "keeping the lights on."
  • Influence: Exceptional ability to persuade and align stakeholders at the C-suite and VP level without direct authority.
  • Operational Excellence: Drives rigor in financial processes, ensuring data integrity, systemic efficiency, and the timely delivery of all financial commitments.
  • Accountability & Resilience: Delivers uninterrupted execution of fundamental financial processes and execution on critical strategic initiatives, even amidst organizational complexity.
