Friday, Saturday, & Sunday 5am-5pm (This position will ultimately be on the weekend "B1" shift from 5AM to 5PM. It will likely require a period of training on the week day shift before moving to the weekend.)
As a Welder, you will:
- Welding Operations: Perform precise welding on various materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminum) in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to plan layouts.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain welding equipment, including torches, grinders, and welding machines.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed welds for flaws and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Safety Adherence: Maintain a clean work area and strictly follow OSHA regulations, including using personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- High School Diploma or GED, with 3 years of welding experience. Ability to read specifications.
- Must be capable of setting up and operating a wide range of fabrication and welding equipment to include but not limited to: band saw, cut off saw, rollers, press, pipe, plasma, weld, and various power tools.
- Must make complex setups and hold close tolerances in the fabrication and weld manufacturing cycle of a variety of parts made from various materials and configurations—bar stock, ferrous and nonferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, Monel, Inconel, and Hy80.
- Must be able to weld the following processes and pass functional weld test: (GTAW) Gas Tungsten Arc Welding; (GMAW) Pulsed Spray; Gas Metal Arc Welding; (FCAW) Flux Core Arc Weld; Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW); Automatic Submerged Arc Welding (SAW). Employees will be required to pass additional function tests to meet visual and workmanship requirements on certain products or programs.
- Must be able to use cutting and metal removal processes such as (CAC-A) Carbon Arc Cutting/Gouging, and (OFC) Oxy-fuel Cutting.
- Must be able to weld in all positions: Flat, Vertical, Horizontal, Overhead, etc. as required.
- Must be able to weld the following materials: Steel, Stainless, Aluminum, and any other materials, some of high complexity, required by a particular program.
- Must be able to pass a written exam covering all Workmanship Specifications and acceptance criteria for Visual Inspection.
- Must have the knowledge and the ability to apply algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric functions to blueprint dimensions in the manufacture of complex parts.
- In-process and completed welds shall meet visual and workmanship requirements IAW governing fabrication document(s) to include but not limited to weld contouring, joint fit-up inspection, 5X visual inspection of root weld, weld spatter removal, arc strikes, etc.
- Welding operations shall follow IAW established Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) at all times; including but not limited to amperage, volts, travel speed, filler material type, preheat and interpass temperature, etc.
- Responsible for suggesting and working with Manufacturing Engineering and others in developing alternate methods and procedures which contribute toward more efficient and economic product manufacturing.
- Employees assigned to closed areas may be required to assist with ancillary tasks such as painting, blasting, assembly to ensure product completed.
- Performs fitting and fabrication functions as assigned.
- Must understand shop floor computerized time and attendance system and independently execute assigned responsibilities. Examples of those responsibilities are clocking in and out upon arrival and departure from work, close production order operations when work is complete, etc.
The work requires employee to stand for long periods, stoop, bend, reach and climb. Frequently handles objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Occasionally lifts objects weighing up to 35 pounds. Cranes, hand trucks, and other lifting and moving equipment are available for heavier loads.
Pay Information
This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will determine your wages.
