Accountabilities:

    As a Peer Review Associate, you will support the end-to-end peer review lifecycle by identifying suitable reviewers, managing manuscript workflows, and ensuring journals meet established quality and publication standards. You will collaborate with editors, authors, reviewers, and internal teams to deliver an efficient and reliable publishing experience.

    • Research, identify, evaluate, and invite qualified peer reviewers based on manuscript expertise and subject relevance.
    • Manage reviewer invitations, follow-ups, and engagement activities to ensure sufficient high-quality reviews are completed within expected timelines.
    • Monitor manuscript progress throughout the peer review process and address workflow delays or operational issues.
    • Support reviewers with platform-related questions and resolve process challenges through appropriate channels.
    • Build strong relationships with editors, authors, reviewers, and global publishing teams.
    • Act as a key contact for peer review activities, responding to stakeholder questions professionally and within service expectations.
    • Review submitted manuscripts to confirm compliance with journal requirements before peer review begins.
    • Maintain and administer journal workflows through manuscript management systems.
    • Update templates, workflows, trackers, and documentation to improve operational consistency.
    • Generate reports and analyze workflow data to support journal performance monitoring.
    • Verify accepted manuscripts are complete and ready for production, including files, contributor information, permissions, references, and required documentation.
    • Support process improvement initiatives, platform enhancements, and global publishing projects.
    • Maintain accurate records, productivity tracking, and workflow documentation while following established quality standards.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate has experience in academic publishing, strong organizational abilities, and excellent communication skills. You should be comfortable managing multiple priorities, collaborating with international stakeholders, and ensuring accuracy throughout complex editorial workflows.

      • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related discipline.
      • 1–2 years of experience working with an academic publisher, scholarly journal, or publishing services organization.
      • Strong understanding of scholarly publishing processes and peer review workflows.
      • Experience with manuscript management systems such as Sage Track, ScholarOne, or similar platforms is preferred.
      • Master’s degree, PhD, or experience contributing to academic research publications is a plus.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
      • Ability to use online research tools and databases to identify appropriate reviewers.
      • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
      • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in editorial processes.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
      • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple workflows.
      • Professional stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams.
      • Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
