Accountabilities:
- Develop and execute strategic and business plans that support organizational growth, financial sustainability, mission alignment, and long-term impact.
- Lead policy and technical strategies across carbon crediting programs, ensuring alignment with global regulations, market expectations, and best practices.
- Monitor climate policy developments, carbon market trends, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and expansion.
- Represent the organization in global policy discussions, industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder engagements to advance credible carbon markets.
- Build and maintain relationships with governments, regulatory bodies, environmental organizations, corporate partners, academic institutions, and market participants.
- Guide technical approaches related to greenhouse gas accounting, monitoring, reporting, verification frameworks, and carbon market integrity.
- Support the development of communications materials, reports, presentations, and thought leadership initiatives in collaboration with communications teams.
- Foster strong relationships with boards, advisory groups, and senior leadership while promoting collaboration and organizational effectiveness.
- Lead, mentor, and develop teams while creating a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Identify strategic partnerships, new opportunities, and market developments that advance environmental impact and organizational objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Natural Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Policy, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 14+ years of senior leadership experience across nonprofit, government, or private-sector organizations focused on climate policy, carbon markets, sustainability, or environmental programs.
- Demonstrated experience managing organizational strategy, operations, financial planning, and large-scale initiatives.
- Proven ability to lead teams through periods of growth, change, and operational transformation.
- Extensive experience working with boards, advisory committees, executives, and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Deep knowledge of climate science, greenhouse gas accounting, carbon markets, and international climate frameworks.
- Experience with carbon crediting programs, verification systems, climate standards, regulatory initiatives, or related market mechanisms.
- Strong understanding of international and regional carbon market frameworks, including compliance markets and voluntary carbon markets.
- Ability to engage effectively with policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, NGOs, and technical experts.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, integrity, judgment, and ability to build trusted partnerships.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and ability to work effectively in a remote or flexible environment.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages are a plus.
- Ability and willingness to travel for short-term assignments.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Competitive salary range of $250,000–$300,000 USD, with final compensation based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
