Job Purpose
Production Project Leader (PPL). Promote all plant manufacturing activities for New Model Development to assure achievement of key targets and customer satisfaction for power unit manufacturing components. Develop Power Unit Operation manufacturing strategy related to New Model projects. Kick-off, lead, and summarize investigations. Project management items including project schedule development, leading discussions at meetings with design team, achieving project milestones, initiating themes and lead/support project analysis and resolution. Lead New Model evaluations by summarizing Zone activity for plant evaluations. Coordinate and support We Are Ready activities for New Model build events and mass production by setting schedules, evaluating departments, and summarizing/judging results. Review and understand impact of design changes and manufacturing instructions. Manage financials by completing plan-do-check-action for responsible zone including budget application, purchase orders, invoice, and project closure. Follow document management controls and promote/encourage/explain New Model confidentiality with project team.
Key Accountabilities
- Management of short term and mid-term new model projects on a daily basis by understanding current project status, controlling gap closure with dept project leads, and communicate as required
- Evaluate Department Project Lead new model content related to key deliverables such as trial event and mass production readiness, quality, cost, and associate training. Focus and lead gap closure on items not meeting target
- Manage and summarize activity for New Model evaluation and present to Quality/Manufacturing Divisions Lead and Plant Lead associates
- Establish/Manage key milestones of cost including New Model investment and expense related to new model spec/new technologies by leading cost down efforts
- Lead department project leads with new technology items and struggle items to ensure timely plan-do-check-action
- Lead meetings with Japanese Research and Development team with a goal of a win-win solution when discussing design specification impacting manufacturing
- Provide leadership and support to department project leads with theme activity
- Lead and Manage New Model specification manpower and manufacturing location strategies impacts
- Mentor team members on key New Model procedures and project leadership to foster development
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Business or engineering field or equivalent experience
- 8+ years’ experience based on education
- A past or current project leader at Honda, with manufacturing experience preferred
