You will be responsible for establishing clear performance expectations, providing honest employee feedback, and accountability for results. Your primary responsibilities will include: • Observe Tax Team Operations: Learn about leading multi-functional indirect or direct tax teams, providing people and technical supervision, training, advice, and guidance to tax professionals on their team. • Assist with Performance Management: Support establishing clear performance expectations, providing honest employee feedback, and accountability for results under the guidance of senior managers. • Explore Tax Positions: Participate in defining and supporting IBM's tax positions, and learn about negotiating with and representing IBM before tax officials at the federal, state, and local tax level on tax/legal issues. • Engage with Tax Developments: Stay updated on tax developments, both legislatively and as a consequence of changes in business operations, to understand potential changes in tax practices, policies, and procedures. **Required technical and professional expertise** • Basic Understanding of Taxation: Familiarity with fundamental concepts of taxation, including direct and indirect taxes, and an interest in learning more about tax laws and regulations. • Exposure to Team Management: Basic understanding of team dynamics and exposure to people management principles, with a curiosity to learn about leading and supervising teams. • Interest in Tax Policy: Curiosity about tax policy and legislation, with a willingness to learn about the impact of tax developments on business operations. • Awareness of Performance Management: Basic understanding of performance management principles, including setting expectations and providing feedback, with a desire to learn more about accountability and results-driven management. • Familiarity with Business Operations: Basic understanding of business operations and how they intersect with taxation, with an interest in learning more about the complexities of tax practices, policies, and procedures. **Preferred technical and professional experience** No preferred qualifications specified IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
