As a Senior Tax Manager in our Indianapolis office, you will play a key leadership role in the continued growth of our tax practice. This is an exciting opportunity to serve as a trusted advisor to middle-market businesses and their owners, helping clients navigate complex tax matters while influencing strategic business decisions. You'll work closely with executive leadership teams, collaborate with specialists across CBIZ's national network, and drive meaningful client outcomes through thoughtful planning and advisory services. 

 

In addition to leading high-impact engagements, you'll help shape the future of the practice by mentoring and developing emerging talent, fostering strong client relationships, and contributing to business development initiatives that support the firm's continued success.

 

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to a diverse portfolio of clients, providing strategic tax planning, consulting, and compliance services.

  • Lead the delivery of complex tax engagements while maintaining exceptional client service and ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Develop and implement innovative tax strategies that help clients achieve their business objectives and minimize tax exposure.

  • Build and strengthen long-term client relationships by understanding business needs and identifying value-added solutions.

  • Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns, tax provisions, and other technical tax deliverables.

  • Research and interpret tax laws, regulations, and emerging developments, providing practical guidance to clients and internal teams.

  • Collaborate with leaders across assurance, advisory, and specialty tax practices to deliver integrated solutions for clients.

  • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, balancing priorities while maintaining high-quality work product.

  • Participate in business development initiatives, including networking, proposal development, and identifying opportunities to expand client relationships.

  • Contribute to practice growth by helping drive recruiting, retention, training, and team development efforts.

  • Partner with firm leadership to establish engagement strategies, staffing plans, and resource allocation decisions.

  • Provide thought leadership on tax matters through client presentations, internal training sessions, and industry involvement.

  • Utilize technology and process improvements to enhance efficiency, client experience, and overall service delivery.

  • Stay informed of industry trends and regulatory changes to proactively advise clients and identify new opportunities.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 8 years experience in public accounting or related field
  • 5 years supervisory
  • Must have active CPA or equivalent certification
  • Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
  • Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Must be able to travel based on business needs
