We're looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic and the ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, changing environment. This transportation strategy specialist will play a critical role in optimizing our transportation networks across the globe. This position will focus on developing and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and performance of our transportation network.

As Associate Director of Transportation Network Design and Strategy, you will lead the strategic vision and continuous optimization of our end-to-end transportation network. You will bridge the gap between long-term corporate strategy and daily logistics execution, leveraging advanced data modeling, network design software, and collaborate with third parties and RTX businesses to build a highly resilient, cost-effective, and scalable transportation ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, data analysis, and transportation network design and execution, and will be adept at developing solutions that align with our business goals.

What You Will Do:

  • Strategic Network Design: Lead the design and continuous refinement of the corporate transportation network (including inbound, interplant, and outbound shipping lanes). Evaluate node locations, modal mix (e.g., HWA, Truckload, Less-Than-Truckload, Parcel), and carrier allocation and service level strategies.

  • Advanced Modeling & Analytics: Collaborate with the RTX data teams and supporting functions to progress toward the transportation digital twin and network simulation tools. Lead continuous "what-if" scenario planning to mitigate supply chain disruptions, adapt to shifts in customer demand, and model the impact of fuel fluctuations or infrastructure changes.

  • Freight Cost & Service Optimization: Identify and execute strategic initiatives to reduce total landed costs while meeting or exceeding strict delivery Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Project Management: Provide structured project management support for enterprise‑level logistics projects focused on cross‑business transportation optimization, driving efficiency through best practices and advanced technologies from third‑party logistics providers.

  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Drive alignment and collaboration across OneRTX Logistics workstreams—including Strategic Sourcing, Data & Systems Design, Network Design, and Business Logistics teams—throughout all phases of project planning and execution.

  • Stakeholder Alignment: Bring together internal teams and external partners to ensure cohesive execution of logistics programs and deliver measurable results.

  • Transportation Network Design: Lead and support the ideation, modeling, and design of transportation network solutions in partnership with logistics engineering.

  • Execution: Guide initiatives from concept through implementation to achieve savings and performance improvements.

  • Performance Management: Strengthen logistics provider relationships through structured performance management, fostering collaboration and shared success.

  • Financial Modeling: Develop robust project and program cost models that enable fact‑based financial management, including evaluation of savings, required investments, and return on investment.

  • Financial Estimates & Business Cases: Prepare financial estimates and complete business cases to support proposed logistics strategies and operational improvements.

  • Execution Playbook Development: Design and operationalize decision‑making playbooks for logistics transitions, new operations start‑ups, and major project

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience.

  • 10+ years of experience in transportation, transportation provider management, or related roles within the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
