Deputy Manager - Placement
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Placement team at Marsh Risk, a Marsh business. This role will be based in Mumbai. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Deputy Manager - Placement (Grade D1)
This role supports the Placement team by preparing and processing key documentation — including specifications, loss records, summary reports, and proposal components — to facilitate smooth market submissions. The individual assists with analyzing and comparing quotes from various markets, reviewing existing client insurance programs, and ensuring coverage specifications submitted to carriers and underwriters are accurate. They manage follow-up on outstanding documentation and coordinate changes with underwriters to keep the placement process on track. The role also requires maintaining appropriate market contacts and developing a strong technical understanding of the Placement business to effectively support the Placement colleague and deliver quality client outcomes.
We will count on you to:
Documents and oversees performance management for a small to medium sized group, coordinates workload of team members and ensures team is appropriately staffed to meet client needs.
Delivery as per company standards and continuous rigor on improving business performance
Review operational and quality failures, conduct root cause analysis & monitor plan to ensure success
Manage migrations seamlessly – This includes system and/or work transfers by proactively identifying roadblocks, provide solutions and perfect execution
Manage capacity planning and forecasting
Ensure leave policy as per business demands
Adherence to the Engagement rhythm - Conduct monthly performance reviews and appraisals within agreed timelines
Succession Planning - Identify and develop individuals for next level with IDP and support bottom quartile colleagues with Performance Improvement Plan
Ensure attrition is managed as per the company standards. Strong Early Warning system (EWS) management to identify early and accurate detection
Develop effective relationships with the stakeholders (internal and external) and participate and contribute in meetings
What you need to have:
Graduate with 6 plus years’ experience in the insurance broking domain
2-3 years' experience in team management
Process knowledge of broking business and insurance terminologies
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks during peak volume periods
Collaborative mindset across levels and teams
Good command on MS Office applications (MS-Excel, MS-Word)
Decision making and Problem solving skills
High attention to detail
Good relationship skills, Proven ability to work on functional initiatives
Willingness to work 12pm – 9pm or 1pm – 10pm shift
